Good morning! It's a mild start to this Veteran's Day. We had just a drop of rain overnight so the red flag is still up for wildfires. The baked coconut shrimp was easy to make and was really good. We liked that we got crispy bites with very little 'breading' except for the coconut. I would make them again. We are going to the early exercise class. This afternoon there is a Veteran's Day observance that we will attend. Not sure what we will have for dinner. Enjoy the day! Waving!

Good morning gang. Another mild day here - the forecast shows mid 50s which for November is quite lovely. I will head over to the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph this morning, amongst lots of other things that need to be done - shopping, baking etc. We have a Harvest sale coming up on Saturday so lots to get done plus we have 2 half days at the commercial kitchen this week getting ready for Christmas. Busy days this week. Glad to see that Brian is progressing well, Chris. It just amazes me how quickly people are sent home after surgery these days. Have a wonderful day.

Good morning. Yesterday I started to come down with a cold. So last night I took some NyQuil and went to bed at 9:30 and slept until 6:20 this morning. I will be taking a nap some time today and will just rest all day. I hope I can kick this crud in a couple days. Usually a cold will kick me down for way longer than that. But I started on Zinc right away when I felt it coming on and will continue with that until it is gone. I even turned the heat up last night and did not turn it down when I got up. I'll sweat it out if nothing else. LOL
Heading back to bed when this cup of coffee is done......
Have a great day all.

Good morning all. I have been reading but have not been posting much lately. Here's hoping those of you under the weather will be feeling better soon. I thought I would share a picture from a few years ago of how I enjoy our fall leaves. Strangely enough we are under an alert for smoke in the air from a large wildfire in Ulster County. That is pretty unusual for us this time of the year. With the drought we've had Plus Dry leaves, is a lot of fuel. We did get a good one half to 1/4 of an inch of rain overnight which is really good news. Anyway here's a nice day in central New York at Black Creek Falls. Birdy

Good morning everyone. Chris, good to hear Brian is on his way to recovery and seeing improvements every day. Hope he’s still taking it easy, we don’t want any setbacks, do we? Have fun with your DGS today. I’m sure the two of you will find some mischief to get into. Ann, our wildfires are just about over, while yours is still a concern. We’ve gone from over 500 in the province at one time, down to just 51 burning today. None of them near any population, thank goodness. Tasty, busy days ahead for you I see. Wish I lived near you, I’d be first in line at your sales. Bet, love the butterfly. In keeping with Charlene’s theme this weekend I see. Mamma, sorry to hear of your cold. Hope you can get rid of it quickly. Quiet day here, at least in the morning. Will do load of towels and while that is going, will gather the dry ingredients for a couple of Christmas baking. I find that if I have the flour etc sifted together, fruits and chocolate chips measured for individual recipes, well labeled, makes it easier to do the actual baking when the time comes. Hope I can do what I’ve planned, for this year anyway. Might be my last year of baking Christmas goodies. DD1 is coming over this afternoon. Will be good to visit with her, it’s been a while. Will let her go thru stuff I’ve gathered for DGDs. She probably won’t want anything but I’ll let her look, anyway. Bbl. Jan

Birdy, love the picture. Just what I needed to see today. Something cheerful. Dull and rainy here today, forecast for the rest of the week too. No fog today though, that’s good. Jan

Good afternoon to all -- a nice quiet day for me, and it's been lovely.
TM, I wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your BIL. I also lost a beloved BIL last year, very unexpectedly, and it has been hard to see my sister and niece & nephews go through this. Praying for your family.
Chris, I bet y'all can find something to get into! Have fun!
Ann, sounds like a good day ahead for you.
Tasty, I know you will find something to keep you busy after the Remembrance Day service. In England last year we saw so many monuments and especially the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in Westminster Abbey -- it was a strong reminder of how very devastating WWI was for the UK.
Mamma, take good care of yourself today and beat that cold. Rest and liquids!
Birdy, how lovely to see one of your pictures. Such a beautiful scene. Were you able to get your new glasses?
Jan, I do the same thing when I know I'll be doing a good bit of baking -- mix and package dry ingredients and have everything pre-measured and ready to go. It really does help (and makes you feel like you're on a cooking show 😄).
I got out for a good walk this morning before buying groceries, and then I've been getting things put away, emptied the dishwasher, done laundry, had a nice phone chat with a friend, and puzzled over what to fix for our supper tonight. Right now I'm thinking sloppy joes. Also pondering whether I want to make a run to Sam's to restock on multivitamins and vitamin D tablets. I probably should, since I have the time, but I'll wait until everything's out of the dryer.

I'm doing a couple loads of laundry, too. While doing that, just the usual quiet, peaceful day. Mamma, sorry to read you've come down with a nasty cold. That bug seems to be making the rounds. Hope you'll be able to sleep well. Birdy, your picture is just lovely. Was that the stream where you used to park with a sandwich and take pictures? Supper tonite will be shrimp warmed up in butter with blackened seasoning. The first pumpkin pie of the season for dessert. Sweet dreams.

Good afternoon ! Mamma, hope the early meds will help you kick that cold.
Good to hear is better every day, Chris.
I enjoy the nice photos Bet and Birdy. Especially fall, because we don't get any nice colorful foliage here.
Tasty, you will be busy in the kitchens this week!
Jan, it is a lovely day here. Warm and sunny. I think everyone is enjoying it because of the last few days of clouds and sprinkles
Sounds like you managed to stay quite busy on your day off Elza. But it feels good to mark things off a to do list.
Waving to Ann, Helen and all others popping in.
I grocery shopped this afternoon, and bought a lot. I needed stuff for us, for the mission and for the ladies brunch Saturday. Supper tonight is chicken barley soup.
I am remembering all those veteran's who gave so much.

It's taken me all day to get here, but I finally made it---good evening to all! To all our wonderful Veteran's, thank you for your service.
After early morning OT and PT appointments, DH and I had a couple of small errands we needed to run before it was time to have a bowl of homemade soup for our lunch. DH headed for the "office" bedroom where he decided to "hunt" in the closet for something he wanted and hadn't seen in years. Although he said it was hard work looking through several boxes, he appeared to be happy when he found several items he had forgotten about. While he did that, I decided to prep some veggies for a pot of soup I will hopefully make tomorrow.
Chris, hope you and your DGS had a good time today "doing something." Happy to read that your DS is feeling better each day.
Ann, your mention of coconut shrimp has me licking my lips and remembering the early days of our marriage. DH and I lived on the other side of the state for a few years where there was a little place in town, right on the intercoastal waterway, that had the best coconut shrimp.
Tasty, hope you had a productive day getting ready for your Harvest Market this coming weekend. Continued success with your sales.
Bet, what a bright, sunny, feel-like Florida picture you posted today.
Birdy, your beautiful picture for today has me homesick for the Fall colors I grew up with. With all those rich, warm colors, I can understand anyone saying that is their favorite season.
(((mamma))), sorry to see that this nasty bug has now found its way to your home. While at my various appointments in the last few weeks, I notice so many people are dealing with the same. Both my DD and DGD have been sick these past few days too. Hope that you can kick this bug quickly.
Jan, interesting how you get everything for your baking measured out ahead of the actual baking day. I can see where on the actual day that could save you time, but I must admit, I've never thought to do that.
Helen, I hope you enjoyed your first of the season pumpkin pie. I've never been a big fan of pumpkin pie, but I do like pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and Libby's pumpkin roll.
Elza, you sure got a lot accomplished today---I hope you enjoyed your day off.
Tammy, as usual, you've got another busy week cooking meals for the mission and the ladies brunch---what have you planned? I'm sure it will be delicious!
Elaine, enjoy your evening.
Time to get ready for Monday Night Football. Talk to you tomorrow. Lori

good afternoon everyone. Emr and Lori, I start the ingredients ahead of time (actually spread it over several days) because I can’t stand in one spot for any length of time. Do a lot of sitting in between, takes me several hours. In my younger days, I would get an idea to make something, gather ingredients, and have it assembled and in oven in no time. Those days are long gone. This way I still manage to bake something. Helen, our thanksgiving was last month, so we’ve already had some. Love pumpkin anything. Tammy, the sun finally came out late this afternoon. Sure can’t say it’s warm tho. Had a really nice visit with DD1 this afternoon. She found a couple of things in the boxes I set aside for DGDs. Still will look for a few more items for them. Probably won’t have them go thru them until the new year. Better go see about supper. Jan
