This is the second lake in our Town. This lake is only about 1 mile long but very deep and cold. It almost entirely fed by springs. It is Paradox Lake and gets its name because the outlet becomes an inlet in the spring of the year. I spent all of my childhood and most of my adult life on this lake. Lived as they say just down the road from this beach that this picture was taken from.
I am up early. Couldn't get back to sleep but that's ok have lots I want to get done today. Yesterday I did drive to the next town and did a quick job and picked up a few things from Walmart that I had been wanting to get. When I got home not real sure what I did accomplish but it wasn't much. Did some watering in the shop then spent a good portion of the afternoon getting my menu done for the Lions' Thanksgiving Dinner that is 2 weeks from Monday. Reviewed all my notes from last year, got the recipes out and did a shopping list. Checked prices on line at different stores to see where the best prices are. Most of what I have left to by aren't things that will be on sale. I have the turkey already so the sides are what I need. Will put in an order to Walmart this coming week to pick up all of the staples I can get now then watch the sales for the following week and finish the shopping then. I will try to get the rolls done this week and in the freezer.
I got a call yesterday that the parts are in for my freezer and they will be here Tuesday morning to install them. Then I have to job of putting everything back in it if I can find it. I will do inventory as I go. This morning I am going to make a Butterscotch, graham cracker Cheesecake Bar. I am making half a recipe to see how I like it and how well it freezes.
I need to work outside today and tomorrow at the moment it is 40° and the high is to be 44°. It will be cloudy this morning and maybe some sun this afternoon. I have one little job I have to do here in town and will do the transfer station run with a bunch of cardboard and to DGD's with the garbage and recyclables.
Have a great day.
Bet

Good morning all. You can tell it's November by the sky low hanging grey clouds and blustery. 80* on Thursday and 50* on Friday. What a change in temps. I can't get used to it.
Hair appointment went well she only thinned it. Took longer to drive there then to get my hair done. Then I went and did some errands. Went to the farmers market to get some cauliflower and squash. I made cheesy cauliflower soup it was really good. Have a couple of servings left for lunch.
I started another diamond dots it's a winter theme with cardinals and greenery and snow.
Have some more errands to do today so better get a move on.
Have a wonderful day.

The nursery is getting their shipmemts ofof
Well, lost that post, maybe I'll try again later. I'm headed outside to plant some annuals to refresh my patio planters.
Have a great day all!

Good morning. I ran the pecan chewies I made to the church but didn't stay. They have way more baked goods than I think they will sell so perhaps I should have kept a few. Didn't think about it at the time. So now I'm having a second cup of coffee, which I never do anymore, and will get ready to go to the funeral in a little bit. I think when I get back I'll go out and rake. The pines have dropped their needles and I usually rake them and put them in one of the beds. It's not enough to do much but better than nothing. Then I will mix up the pineapple casserole and put it in the fridge so I can just put it in the baking dish and put the crackers on top and bake when I get up in the morning.
Don't forget to set your clocks back if you still have any. I only have one wall clock in the kitchen and the stove and microwave to worry about.
Bet, glad your freezer will soon be fixed.
Sandy, I'm not a fan of cauliflower but your soup sounds like something I might like. Cheese can make a lot of things taste good. I love broccoli but for some reason don't care for cauliflower. Maybe I just haven't made myself eat it enough.
Waving at everyone else.

Good morning everyone. It is 36º and going to mid to upper 50s later. Nice weather for November.
Yesterday morning I took Curt to the post office and then decided to start in on cleaning my downstairs sunroom. I got it all rearranged for winter months and got all of the windows washed(9 of them). Things that didn't belong I put on the dining room table. Once it was finished, I started cleaning in the dining room. All if the stuff from the sunroom was either put away or moved to the kitchen. Guess where I am going to start today? Yup....the kitchen. Most of that "stuff' needs to be carried to the basement and hopefully I get that done this morning. This afternoon I have a celebration of life for a 43 yr old gal that passed away unexpectedly 2 weeks ago. I am good friends with her Mom, so I need to go for her sake. There has never been a Dad in the picture, so her Mom is taking this pretty hard being left all alone. My friend and her DD that passed were next door neighbors and worked together cleaning houses.
Bette...Your mention of Thanksgiving menu reminds me that I have to send a group text to family about Thanksgiving. You were up early this morning.
Sandy...We had the same this week...84º on Wednesday and for Halloween the temp was 28 with the wind chill. Glad you got your hair thinned. I need a haircut, but may trim it myself today to give me a couple weeks to get an appointment.
Melissa...I'm blaming you for my sunroom project yesterday....lol. I saw how nice our VSR looked yesterday with all the clean windows and it motivated me. I'm waiting for it to get daylight so I can go and admire mine.
Tasty...thanks for the treats!
Marlene...Sorry you didn't get any kind of precipitation. Hopefully this week.
Mary M...I filled up this week at $3.09
Karen....That is a very pretty gazing ball and looks good where it is if DS doesn't want it. Hope you're having fun family time this weekend.
Elaine....I was hoping to see a picture of you in your frog costume?
On the topic of things kids say that Karen and Leslie mentioned...Thursday night one girl looked at my offer of treats and asked me where the sugar cookies were? I said I didn't make any this year. She said, "they were the BEST". Who knew kids noticed things like that?
Happy Saturday to all. Charlene

The house is quiet so I thought I would take the time to catch up here in the sunroom. We are pretty frosty this morning. DH told me it was warm outside. I told him I thought that was odd since we had a heavy frost overnight. That surprised him. But then again, he doesn't like the blinds open so he didn't notice the frosty grass. He's been a trip already this morning. I got up at 6am to go to the bathroom and decided I'd just give him his 7am medication an hour early so I could sleep a little longer. I discovered him on his phone at 6:00 in the dang morning! He had called the movie catalog company that I'm sure you have heard me talk about him calling them before about not getting his catalogs that he wants. I don't know what the topic of conversation was this time but it was over pretty quickly when I inserted myself into the situation. I guess they are open at that hour so no harm - no foul, but sheesh. I looked at his phone when I got up again and it looks like he has called other people this morning also. I need to add to my list of nighttime chores to take his phone to bed with me so this doesn't happen anymore. He'll probably wake me up asking for it, but I will at least know what he is doing. Additionally, he decided to give me a heart attack by combining the two big boxes of chips and telling me conflicting stories about what he did and where the chips ended up. The kids were snacking out of those boxes last night and I wanted to make sure there was more for today/tonight. I ended up finding them in the 3rd place I looked. In other phone news, I was shocked to see David mowing last night. I thought he was just doing so because. Nope. DH had called him several times during the week and had also bugged his sister about whether or not David could mow. She asked him, so he came. I had no idea those calls were going on. Also a shock to my system was this morning when DH said the neighbor would be here today or tomorrow for something. I don't think he called him, and he says he didn't, but supposedly the neighbor said he'd be here. I hope that was a long ago conversation DH is still remembering. I believe he and his wife are in Florida for the week, but I could be wrong. Ugh! As far as the visit with the kids last night, it went well. Everything I was hoping it would be. Mac was so excited when I opened the front door. I wish I had taken a picture of his face! He picked his favorite movie to watch when he is here for their family movie night - The Aristocats. DDIL says he wants the music from that movie played all the time. He just loves it. He asked to borrow his flashlight with space discs to take with him to the hotel for the night. It tickled me that he was so glad to see that again. I'm never sure when I buy stuff how it will land with him. DSon also said he wanted to sleep in his tent (a rocket ship), but put him off on that. He's mulling over whether or not to let him stay with us overnight in the tent tonight. I was excited for the sleepover possibility, but DH has me thinking again on that. Two toddlers? Malcolm can at least be reasoned with, so maybe it won't be so bad. I will say that DH and Mac were both really happy to see one another, which warms my heart so much. Winston is a true delight! He's as happy in person as he is when we chat. I did as suggested and got in a lot of snuggles and kisses. I held him a lot. DH wasn't able to really focus on him too much. It was probably wise to not ask DH if he wanted to hold him given how hard it is to get DH to listen to directions. When we video chat, I seem to always take screenshots of Winston on DDIL's lap, never when DSon is holding him. He does a ton with the baby so I don't know why I don't. He accommodated me last night by posing for a great picture as they were getting ready to go. I also took a pic that wasn't the best when he was holding him trying to get him to nap. It was dark in the living room so we weren't sure how it would turn out. I'm not picky and was happy enough with what I got. I was so tired from the crappy day and excited to see everyone that I didn't take any more pictures than that. Today I will do better. I think we will see them around lunchtime or shortly thereafter. Beautiful lake shot, Bet. Love how you price checked things for the Thanksgiving meal for the Lions. Nice that the parts are in for your freezer. Good idea to do the inventory as you put things back in place. Sandy, you have totally inspired what I will do with the two bags of frozen cauliflower I have been moving around and not using. I will be making cheesy cauliflower soup! Have fun with the new diamond dots project. Hopefully, Wendy, you end up liking your refreshed patio planters with the new annuals. What are you planting? Sorry about the lost post. Your pineapple casserole sounds yummy, Leslie. Thanks for the reminder on setting the clocks back. I made myself a note. With the excitement of the kids being here, I could have easily forgotten that. It will really mess with their heads with their usual time zone being an hour earlier than us, but then being here when we fall back. Good thing their tech devices likely change things for them. Charlene, I'm sorry part of your day will be spend in such a sorrowful way. Having things to do around the house will help shake that off perhaps. The kids didn't say one way or another about whether or not they would take the gazing ball. I'm guessing they will. DDIL wasn't really familiar with them, so I suggested how she could sit it outside for maximizing the mirrored/strobe effect. I think the kids would get a kick out it next summer, or even inside if they chose to put it where it gets sunlight. Well, I better snag another cuppa tea, or maybe I get in the shower first. I have a gorgeous sunflower that the birds planted from their feeder that is 100% coming inside today. I want to enjoy that for as long as possible. The YS is also looking strong so I want to cut some of that for inside also. The kids will be here before I know it. Best post and go. Have a sensational Saturday.

Good morning, its 46° headed to highs around 56°. Our showers are expected to taper off this morning but pick back up in the afternoon.
I woke up a little after 3 AM and wasn’t able to go back to sleep.
Wow Bet you did start out early you had been up for hours by the time I got up.
Yesterday my niece called and wanted to know if we had any plans for supper. We didn’t and had not thought of going out or really wanted to go out to eat so, she said they would pick up some pizza and come over later. The pizza was good and we really enjoyed spending the evening with them.
Leslie, good reminder, I have several clocks that automatically reset but also have several that I will need to reset. Also, will need to remember my watch that’s the one I usually forget.
Karen, I also think your gazing ball is pretty. Have a wonderful time with your family.
Have a great day everyone.

Leslie...I failed to say that I'm sorry about the passing of your ex. Even though you have parted ways, you have children in common and at one time he was an important part of your life. My sympathies. Charlene

Leslie...I failed to say that I'm sorry about the passing of your ex. Even though you have parted ways, you have children in common and at one time he was an important part of your life. My sympathies. Charlene Charlene, my 2nd husband and I didn't have kids, although he was part of my sons' lives during at least part of the 6 years we were married. I found it odd that my 1st husband (sons' dad) passed on October 25, 2021 and this one on October 26, 2024. We were all born the same year, although I was the youngest since my birthday is in December. The service was nice. He came from a family who sang together a lot and have had musical talent in at least 4 generations. His nephew played the piano for the service and his nieces and nephew sang. They did a wonderful job. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at how old his sisters seemed, but at least they had lost weight over the years. He was the youngest but loved to eat and never worried about how much, especially after a stroke 10 or so years ago. He also had 12 stents. His wife told me that he had so many health issues the past few years that she could no longer care for him so that was one reason he was in the nursing home when I went to see him in June. He had been in the hospital numerous times this year. They were married for 18 years, which surprised me, but neither had kids to complicate things. My 3 oldest were teens when we divorced. I'm sorry about your friend's daughter. A parent shouldn't have to go through that.

Charlene, she is so cute. I'm sure she is excited to become a big sister.
Karen, like Charlene's story, I have one that is the opposite experience from yours. My granddaughters were taking my great nephew's GF'S daughter trick or treating in my niece's neighborhood Thursday because they always get together and do that. DS#2 sent me a screenshot from a house in that neighborhood. He couldn't view the video because he's not a member of that neighborhood group but the owner of the house was wanting to know who the girls were to tell their parents how thoughtful they were. The owners were out with their kids and the bowl of candy on their porch was low so my granddaughters took their own candy and put it in the bowl. In the picture can see the 15 year old and little one at the top of the steps and the top of the head of my 12 year old DGD as she was putting her candy in the bowl. This is the one that got the caring award at school in the spring. Pearl is definitely a pearl, always thinking of others. She's like the child wanting Charlene's cookies and always finds something to compliment on strangers.

Another day that is trying to get away from me. Can't say I achieved a lot so far but on the other hand I've been on the go most of the day. I'm trying to use as much of what is in the fridge freezer as possible so that come Tuesday there isn't too much to empty out. We ordered all new appliances for the kitchen just a couple of weeks ago and got a call last Friday (less than a week after ordering unlike the 4 - 5 months last time we did this). This coming Tuesday was the first time the plumber was available to hook up the dishwasher so our delivery date was chosen for us. Living in the condo, we are not allowed to do that kind of thing ourselves. Of course Tuesday is canning day for me so hubby will be here and when I come home it should all be done. So really, not much shopping going on here until at least Wednesday. From what was in the freezer there, hubby chose lamb chops for supper tonight - haven't had lamb in ages. I'll do roast potatoes with that at hubby's request and carrots and peas, my choice, to add lots of colour to the plates! Have a lovely day.
