Good morning. It is expected to be a summer-like day here.
Our 'breakfast' group is getting together for dinner with our friend who moved, back in July, into our newest, and fanciest, local seniors building. This is the same lady who had back surgery at the end of September. She had been told she would be going home the following day but that didn't happen and it was mid-month before she got home. Therefore tonight is our night to sample their dinners. It will be a good test for our friend to see if she is ready to return to eating downstairs, rather than have supper delivered to her apartment.
As for the rest of today, I am taking myself off to the city. There's a few things I would like to do and just have a day with no responsibilities!!
Have a wonderful Wednesday. PS Big town you live in Bet - not!!

Tasty, our population is just over 1,800 and the town itself covers about 132 miles. Our school system which encompasses 2 townships is just over 200 and that is K-12. We are a big second homeowers area.

Good Morning, Bet, your Main Street is longer than mine. Population of town is around 1600. One school that is the result of 3 consolations. Tasty, sounds like a fun day for you. Yesterday's shopping trip was a success. I had conversations with 3 different people who live in the town closest to me. I did forget to go to the travel agency to leave them with my deposit for an upcoming sister's trip in April. So, I will mail it toay, Marlene

Good morning everyone. Right now it is 68º which is a record high/low temperature for the day. The temps are going to frop throughout the day and by mid afternoon it will be in the 40s with rain. Tomorrow morning there's a chance of snow. That's hard to believe since yesterday was 80º.
Yesterday I kept busy in the house in the morning and outside in the afternoon. I got 2 more trash cans of yard debris cut. I have maybe 2 more and I will be done. If I am not able to get them done this fall, it will wait for Spring. It's just the Joe Pye weed and pampas grass by my back garage and that cannot be seen from either road going by my house.
I went and visited Lair for awhile around 5. He had a bad day and is discouraged about not getting better. I know what is happening to him is what the doctor warned when he got him signed up with hospice, but so hard for him and me to accept.
Today I have to go and feed Phyllis cat and give her the pill and get Phyllis up. I then will leave her to listen to TV and have to take Curt to the hospital clinic to get his toenails cut. I will then return to Phyllis and finish my shift. When I get home, DSis and DBIL will stop over for coffee. Once they leave I am taking Curt to Dollar General and I will pick up a few things for Lair. If's it's pouring rain we will wait until morning to go.
Bette...Nice picture of main street. Our main street is 1 block long...population of our village is 475 and the elementary school closed a few years ago. We have only 1 school in the entire county now.
Tasty...I hope your friend is able to get out and enjoy dinner with friends. She's got to be sick of being cooped up in her apartment.
Dave...good to see you here this morning. The link I sent you must have worked for you.
Marlene...Glad you had a good shopping trip yesterday. I need to take a day and go to Rochester, MN for things we cannot get around here. A trip with sisters is something for you to look forward to!
Happy Wednesday to all. Charlene

Good morning. We had rain overnight. Shows that we had .2”. I put my rain gauge away so will have to take their word for it. Its 42 and will only be 48 today. Tomorrows high is only 39 and the S word is in the forecast. Of course because its halloween! Poor kids. Gayle our high yesterday was 56 so you were certainly warmer than me.
After I posted yesterday I did go outside and get leaves cleaned out of my window well. I put some pots in the shed and dug my last 3 begonia bulbs. They still hadn’t froze but since rain was forecast I wanted to dig them before they were sopping wet. I bagged up all my other bulbs in the garage and just need to get them hauled inside. We watched hockey and baseball last night.
Dh is off to Wisconsin again. He will be home tomorrow night. I will start with inside chores today. I need to vacuum and dust since that didn’t get done Monday. I need to find a baby pic of dd for the yearbook and get it scanned. I will spend time in the kitchen baking some things. I also am planning a library trip at some point. They don’t open until 10. I have 20 pages in my book to finish up before I go. Just couldn’t stay awake to do it last night.
Charlene-Sorry to hear Lair is struggling. Do you feel like you are meeting yourself coming and going? Thats a lot of running around.
Bet-The town I grew up in has only 300 and the town my school was in is about 200 more. A few more rural towns are also part of that district. The town and district 10 miles away is bigger, population of 3000. The two are combined for sports but still each have their own schools. I think the reasoning back in the day was that because the areas are so rural you have students traveling long distances both directions to get to those schools and if they combined, some kids would’ve had very long and far bus rides. The funny thing is where we live now there are kids that live 45 minutes out of town that are still in our district because theres no where else. Probably similar to where you live that there’s just a whole lot of nothing in between places.
I better post this before anything crazy happens. I also need to get off my butt and get going. Have a great day.

Good morning, what's left of it. I didn't get to sleep until around 4 so slept till 8 but still feel tired. Not sure what, if anything, I'll get done today. Between my allergies and a very achy shoulder and arm I just couldn't get comfortable. I finally got up at 3am and took some meds. Got a message this morning that we won't have church tonight, although they will still have ESL class. Since I don't think they really need me there I probably won't go. The pastor's mom has a blockage in her neck and will have an MRI today so he went to be with her. His dad is still recovering from triple bypass surgery a few weeks ago. I found out yesterday that my 2nd husband passed away last Saturday and his service is this Saturday so I plan to go to that. Today is my oldest brother's 72nd birthday, which means it's been 22 years since DB#2 passed away. Seems like a lot of gloom, but such is life. I'm sure I mentioned my 1st husband's sister who was in the hospital last weekend. She is now at the same nursing home my friend was in but supposedly for rehab so may get to go home at some point. Over the years she's had an aneurysm and strokes so hasn't been in the best of health.
Tasty, enjoy your dinner and time with friends. Hope your friend is healing well.
Charlene, I'm sorry Lair isn't doing well. I'm sure it is frustrating for him and can understand his disappointment in not getting better. I'm sure it is hard to accept. Prayers for him and you. It's good that he has you, as well as hospice right now.

Good morning. It was a brisk walk this morning. I have water going in the ice machine, We have been buying ice all summer and dh wants to continue that as it's easier. But, we don't have much room in the freezer so I decided to make a batch to get us through a couple of days. Not sure what we will have for supper tonight. I am thinking of using up the dark meat turkey and make chili. My favorite is the dark meat but this butterball turkey just seems drier.
Tomorrow night is the Halloween party. I bought a frog one piece pj's that I'm going to wear. We are taking some smokies that have cheese in them. I better get the 2 packages out of the freezer.
A few more residents arrived last night. Plus, I heard a couple of homes sold and the people are moving in sometime this week.
Make it a great day. Elaine

We're sunny and breezy. Unless something drastic changes, I don't know that we will be as windy as yesterday. Thank goodness! I am not going to get a lot done today. I'll have to pick and choose what gets left behind from my list because I don't see it all getting done before the kids are here on Friday. I went to the museum this morning for an hour. I wanted to listen in on what was getting reported to the director about Jerry. Two of the volunteers, a husband and wife, don't like him and were complaining about him in a group text last night. The wife had requested a meeting with the director this morning to clarify "untruths" floating around. Implying that Jerry was lying about things he was doing and not doing. This whole thing felt like a big ol' power grab, which is disappointing. We had been doing so well working as a team to get things done. The director was not amused to find out there was a sale last weekend of things in the garage without his knowledge. I don't blame him. I didn't know he hadn't been consulted. The others decided that after I left last week. The couple stirring the pot are also mad that Jerry wouldn't leave his key to the garage with them. It is his key and he is the maintenance person. He's responsible for the safe keeping of that key. I ended up calling Jerry and telling him that he needs to watch everything he says around that couple and warned him that the director planned to talk with him based on what he was told. I didn't want him caught off guard. When I got home, I got a phone call from the gal who was supposed to be here yesterday afternoon. She thought she left me a message, but what I heard was a click when she hung up. I agreed to have her come this afternoon, like in a few minutes. Might as well get that over with now. I'll do whatever else I can do later on. I'll try to get back later on to catch up with everyone. I am sorry to hear that Lair is having troubles. Prayers concerning that situation!

Good morning, its 43° cloudy and gloomy this morning headed to highs about 50°. Hopefully we will see some sun breaks between showers this afternoon. This time of the year when the rains start it can be really gloomy and it’s already dark by 6 PM.
Yesterday in the middle of the afternoon the atomic wall clock just started changing the time. Turns out it needed a new battery and usually, it automatically sets the exact time but for some reason it wasn’t doing that. I just left it alone and when I went to bed, I noticed it had change to the correct time.
I am starting to think we will need to start looking for a new fridge/freezer sometime in the near future. Not long ago the ice dispenser broke however, the water dispenser still works. A couple of days ago it was time to change the water filter and both Sis and I couldn’t get the cover off the filter. We have had problems with this in the past so we were not worried. I decided to watch some how to do videos. When I pulled the fridge out to unplug it, I discovered a mess of water on the floor. I cleaned that mess up and decided to check it again later. So, yesterday when I pulled the fridge out the floor was a little damp, we decided to turn off the water supply valve that runs to the fridge. Only it wouldn’t move and I didn’t want to break it and have more of a problem so it was time to call a plumber. We called the plumber that replaced all of our water lines about 17 months ago. They had a plumber working in our area and scheduled him here when he finished the job he was on. He was able to fix the problem with the water supply valve and even change the water filter. My fridge/freeze is well over 14 years old so the water problem could have been from the fridge. I am impressed with the plumbing company they had someone here within hours to take care of our problems. I checked and it’s doing fine this morning, now I am going to keep an eye on things to be sure we don’t have any more water problems with it and may start looking around for a new fridge.
Charlene, sorry to hear Lair hasn’t been well.
Leslie, sorry about the allergies and achy shoulder and arm hope you’re feeling better soon.
Karen, don’t worry about any list the kids are coming to see both of you so enjoy your time with them.
Have a great day everyone.

Good evening,
We've had a sunny day in the 70s.
I got my grocery shopping done & ran errands. Doodlebug now has a new collar.
I think a Downy Woodpecker has made a nest in one of my birdhouses. I've had it a while but never noticed any activity around it. Yesterday, I saw the male Downy poking his head in & out of it like he was feeding babies.
Mary, Leroy posts mostly on the Midwest thread.
Charlene, I didn't know Lair wasn't doing well. I hope he improves. I remember him being in the hospital recently, but I forget why.
Work tomorrow, nothing physically hard. This will be my 1st day back & my last as a regular employee. I see they have something on my schedule for next week. I am ignoring it.
