Good morning everyone. It is 44º and going to lower 70s, but will be a very windy day.
Yesterday flew by faster than most Sundays do. I went to Phyllis's for a couple hours. I came home and had lunch and then went to the neighboring town for a couple things. I was in pursuit of borax. Dollar general nor either grocery store I checked had it. I found it at our local farm store. I hope to kill some creeping charley with it this week. I watered all the houseplants and rearranged to make room for more that will be brought in this week. I took a few spider plant babies to Lair and visited with him for awhile. His vertigo is better. I also put away more summer clothes and got out sweatshirts for future wear.
Today is a Phyllis day and not sure what I will do when I get home. Before going to her house, I will take Curt to the post office.
Sandy...I forgot to tell you yesterday that it's okay to have a lazy weekend. We all need those from time to time. Hopefully you sat and admired your clean house yesterday.
Mary KY...glad you got a new parakeet for company. Hopefully he gets used to you and you to him. I usually have about 100 kids trick or treating.
Leslie...A good percentage of my classmates remain in our area...or at least in the midwest. We lost 3 to car accidents, 1 had a failed parachute when sky diving, 1 to heart attack and 2 to cancer
Karen...Your video chat sounds like it was a blast. How fun to be able to see them in person this weekend. don't sweat the little things and stress yourself out before they arrive. They are coming to visit you and not to inspect your house....and I'm sure they're not expecting all kinds of gifts.
waving at everyone else.
Happy Monday to all.

Good morning. It is 29° cloudy and the ground is white and its not frost. I guess there was some freezing rain first so am on a delayed start and maybe a cancellation for work today. I got a lot done yesterday afternoon when I got home from work. The back deck is ready for winter. All of the hanging baskets and and railing planters are emptied and put away. Got all the side yard cleaned up and everything in the shed including equipment from the garage. I still have the big front deck to do including about 20 hanging baskets to dump, clean out the greenhouse and hope for a warm day to get that down. I am looking at Thursday at this point. Alice cleaned 3/4 of the main house last night and just finished the kitchen which I will go mop now and then I will do the bathroom. Did 3 loads of laundry also last night. Two are folded and need to be put away and the third is in the dryer waiting to be taken care off. And I hope to get on the road and get 4 stores done today as well as go to the transfer station and drop garbage and recyclables off at DGDs. Alice is done so must go mop. Will try to get back tonight.
Karen, like Charlene said. The kids are coming to visit you and inspect your house. If you want to do something special plan some nice meals and then just plan to relax and enjoy the company. I am sure the kids will keep you entertained and not notice anything else.
Charlene, we are suppose to work up for Thursday but not as warm as you. I am just hoping it warms up here enough to melt the little snow we got today. We have very little forecast to even see the sun this week. Does Borax do a good job on weeds? I am going to need something in the spring for my vegetable gardens before I can consider planting as I didn't do anything to them this summer.

The sun looks it wants to come out. That will hopefully warm us up for the day after waking to a frosty morning. We won't be lacking for warmth much this week. Some of our highs are expected to begin with 8s. Yikes! Looks like the wind isn't going to pass us by and a rainy Halloween is still in the forecast. I started the day by making an extensive to-do list that I can work from and see what I can do in the time frames I have available. Also what is priority and what is merely a wish that gets done. I do better when I get stuff out of my head. I'd love it if DH could help me by just cooperating, but I have a hunch I'm just wishing on that. I think he has a sensor installed on the office chair and the moment my butt hits the chair he needs something clear in the other part of the house. So far, it has been getting him a movie to watch and figuring out what was wrong with his phone. Hoping for a tolerable Monday. Love the eagle pic, Bet. One of DH's cousins called yesterday to say there was a pair flying very low over our house, but by the time I got his message they had disappeared. He said he and his family that were gathering in the empty lot behind our house for a family Halloween party watched them for a while. I'm sorry I missed it. Food is definitely on the agenda. I am working on that as well as the other stuff. I am shooting for easy. Wow on that freezing rain! We haven't had to think about that in a while. How odd, Charlene, that you had so much trouble finding borax. I never would have guessed that to be so hard to do. I guess it won't matter to Winston when he gets his blankets from me. It just kinda does to me. However, it is something I can let go and work on later. I'm glad Lair's vertigo is better. Well, I need to get started on something that I can do now and leave alone. The stuff that will just keep getting messed up will wait until Thursday or Friday morning. Have a marvelous Monday!

A bit chilly out this morning. I cleaned the glass on my front door already. Does anyone have any hints on how to remove the asian beetle spots? Charlene, definitely time to put away summer clothes and dig out the sweatshirts. Glad Lair is feeling better. Bet, "Alice" is a hard worker. You've had a busy morning. Karen, like you I do better when I can cross things off my list whether the list be written or in my head, I'm expecting a phone call any minute now about my medicare insurance. The agency I go to has phone appointments which make it unnecessary to go to the office. I'm quite sure I will stay with what I have. Of course the premiums went up $20 per month. Uf Da! Marlene

Good morning. 41 headed to 66. Will be a good day to work on some outside chores.
Yesterday I spent the majority of the day outside. Dh and I moved 2 wood piles in to the big trailer. They are not seasoned enough yet but were blocking 3 other piles so had to temporarily move them. We then started moving the older ones with the other trailer. We did 2 heaping loads and got them inside and dh stacked them. We have most of the 3rd row left to do and its the biggest of them. Guessing it will fill close to 2 trailers. Problem is we may not have enough space left inside for it all. Time will tell later today. Just looking at the rows it didn’t seem like that much. We won’t even need to take any wood out from under the wood shed. Of course last winter was so mild we only put wood in once and still had 2 full rows in the basement left over. That had never happened before. Dd2 will help us today. We had her soccer banquet last night. Dd was named All area player of the year for the range area by the newspaper and got the coaches mvp defense player award. She plays in an all star game next Monday then soccer is officially behind us I guess.
I work tomorrow so need to be productive today. I better start with laundry. I did my Monday bathroom cleanings yesterday so at least I am ahead there. I should run the vacuum around and probably a dust rag. I tweaked my neck a couple weeks ago now and everything I do irritates it so will drug up and power through.
Bet-Deer season is late this year and opens Nov 9-24. We are grateful to have my brothers and our buddy's land to hunt but are likely going to purchase land at some point with ds1. The question is where to buy that is logical for us both. We live about 75 miles apart. We are used to traveling further to hunt at my moms or brothers but always have had a home base there. Random land that likely wouldn’t have a building on it would be hard at first and would need money put in to develop. Land has gotten so expensive too.
Karen-Glad you had a good visit with the kids.
Well I best post just in case. Have a great day.

Marlene-If you are talking about the little raised poop dots the beetles leave behind I know I had to use a flat edged razor blade before at my moms to get some off. Its like glue!

Marlene...I do the same as Melissa using a razor blade to get that poop off....grrrrr.
Melissa...A BIG Congrats to Maggie! Those are 2 very prestigious awards. You say soccer is behind you...will she not be playing soccer in college?

Good morning, its 47° and raining headed to highs around 57°. We are just starting to see some daylight. It rained most of the weekend with on and off heavy downpours. Our forecast indicated the last week of October is going to bring rainy and cool days with the promise of dry weather only in Tuesday's forecast.
Not sure if it was the cool damp weather but my body was sure achy last night my poor knees and hip were sure aching.
At some time Yesterday morning while we were out, we lost power so the clocks in the kitchen all needed to be reset. The good news was the power was back on when we came home and the garage door still worked.
More than a month ago I may have told you the cable company was working on a line to one of my neighbors. So, for all this time they have a cable line strung over my driveway and laying on the lawn between our driveways. Several time this cable line was just laying on my driveway and people were scared to drive over it not knowing if it was a live electric line. Poor neighbor didn’t have their landline, internet or TV. And said they were doing a lot of reading these days but did still have a cell phone. We tried to call the cable company for them but were unsuccessful and couldn’t get any real agent to talk to. So yesterday when we came home the cable line is gone. Don’t know if the cable company removed the cable line or buried it.
Melissa, congratulations to your Dd being named All area player of the year.
Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon,
We are sunny & in the low 60s; dropped to 37 overnight.
I had to put new batteries in the I/O I use for the GH. It said the temp in the GH last night was 67. Umm,I don't think so.
I didn't get my Lily bulbs planted today.Supposed to be in the 70s on Wed.I'll do it then.
Instead,I took care of the birds, as usual & got my heated birdbath cleaned & in place. Put the ceramic baths in the garage so they won't freeze & crack over the Winter.
There's been a lot of red bellied woodpeckers on my new feeder. I don't usually see them at the feeder. Only at the suet cakes or PB feeder later in the season.
Also put the last 2 geranium pots in the GH & got that heater ready to go. I clipped off a couple more pieces to start from those geraniums. Had to move some things from this shelf to that shelf,so I could get the taller things on the top shelves & still leave room for seedling trays later. Everything is now in there.
I'm tying to decide whether to mow leaves or take the blower to them. If I plan on putting lime down, the leaves have to go. Blowing them will probably do a better job of removing them. But 1st I have to get some more lime. I gave what I had to Sue last week.
Karen,I find a lot of things never made it back from Covid. I have some borax that I got from DG pre Covid. So Charlene tell us about using it on weeds. I've never tried that.
We took to staying at a motel in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge the last few yrs we visited my MIL in Tn. before we moved there. We would go out for the evening & she went to bed early. By the time we got home she had gone to bed & locked the door. Dave had a key but she would lock the screen door too so we would have to get her up to let us in. Also it was a very small 2 BR house & when Mike got to the toddler stage, it was a little crowded. Especially since you had to go through her BR to get to the other one. Staying some place else worked better for everybody.
Bet, snow already?
Not much going on here. I'll check back later.
Charlene, I tried edit & backspacing to move the signature line but I can't see the signature under the edit function.

Gayle, when you edit your thread you don't go below your signature, you need to stay just above that and then back space until you reach your the last line of what you typed.
Wendy, there is nothing to do with personal for what Gayle needs to do that I know of. Not even where you are seeing personal.
