Good morning everyone. It's 34º and going to upper 50s later....a chilly wind today also.
Yesterday morning I went to Dollar General and got candy for Halloween. I went to get a card for the wedding and decided I may as well get some candy while there. I spent over $50 on candy and will bake the rest of the treats to be offered. I then filled the bird feeders for friends and watered their plants. The afternoon and evening was spent at great nephews wedding and reception. DD's husband was busy in the afternoon, so DD asked if I would go to the wedding with her. I jumped at that chance since I hate going to events by myself. DSonIL joined us for the reception. I got home about 8:15 and watched the last 45 minutes of the hallmark Christmas movie. I didn't like it at all since I am not a mystery lover.
I have no big plans for today other than going to get Phyllis up and dressed. Her DD usually does Sunday's, but she and her DH are in PA visiting her in laws.
Bette...thanks for opening...another great photo from your area. I am not weeding because it's too dry to weed. All of my yard debris is cutting off perennials and pulling annuals that are dead. We've had several killing frosts so it's fall work getting the beds cleaned off.
Melissa....Sounds like you've got the deer stands ready to go. With fewer mouths to feed, you probably don't need as many deer for the freezer this year.
Leslie...Sorry to hear your water bill is so high. I am shocked that you've lost that many class members by your 50th reunion. At mine we had only lost 7 of the 73 members that graduated. I love going to my class reunions.
Mary M...hopefully you got some rain yesterday...that is if you needed the rain.
Marlene....Your mention of pumpkin muffins seems to have made more than just me think that was a good idea. Do you make them with or without raisins? Hoping you and me both get more rain before winter sets in.
Tasty...I should follow your lead and do an inventory of stuff in my freezer, but I count on my memory. That's not working out so good....lol.
Carol...We have to do something to keep the gray cells active. I keep mine going by trying to keep my schedule straight and by trying to remember where I put stuff. I am good at playing hide and seek from myself.
Karen...Great that you are getting rid of some stuff and getting $$$ for the museum from them. Enjoy the morning video chat. Seeing the boys in their costumes will be a blast. They are coming soon to visit, right?
Wendy...That is an interesting form of composting you use. I limit my news watching lately since I do not want sleepless nights worrying about things I cannot change.
Gayle...Sounds like a great neighborhood picnic! I'd say $5 is cheap for food and entertainment. Just a note....to get rid of the big white area in your posts, click on edit. Place your cursor above the line above your siggy and hit the backspace numerous times until it appears below your last line of type. I used to do that often for Lily, but now I cannot do anything like that since most of my administration powers are gone.....doesn't hurt my feelings at all.
Happy Sunday to all. Charlene

Sunny and chilly here right now. We look to be in for a wild weather week. Some of the days will be near record-breaking highs. Wind will gust up to 30mph for an extended period of time, and rain is likely for Halloween. "They" aren't sure when, though. I went to church at 7:30 this morning to make way for a video chat with the kids this morning. Something must be holding them up so I have time to post now, I guess. Hopefully all is okay. It's been a tense morning. On my way home from church, a warning light came on the dashboard of the van. Flipped me out! I got the owner's manual out to see what was up but didn't see what I needed to know. Good ol' Google informed me that it was the tire pressure light. That makes sense since this was the first time I have driven the van in cold temperatures. When we woke up this morning we were in the 20s. I feel better knowing that it is just a tire check light, but will take it in today for a fluid check and air in the tires. Also, DH doesn't move with any sense of urgency when I need him to, so that has been frustrating. He also did something to the bathroom sink that made it seem plugged with some sort of tissue/toilet paper product. I guess it is moving now, but don't have a ton of hope that it stays okay. I'd love it if the rest of the day is more relaxed after we talk to the kids. Cool morning picture, Bet. Sandy, your Saturday sounds like it was good. I hope you can talk with your ydd today. I'm waiting to hear, Charlene, about the kids visit. I would imagine we will discuss that whenever they are ready for the chat. I am hoping he isn't going to say it will be as soon as I originally thought because I don't feel ready. Even without them staying here, I need some time to prepare. Wishing you an easy time with Phyllis today. Well, I am going to get a little more to eat while I wait to hear from DSon. A small Little Debbie pumpkin roll 3 hours ago wasn't quite enough for me. Have a superb Sunday!

Good morning . Nothing exciting here. It's a cool 65 now, which is about the high for today. A big change from yesterday's 80s. I went to church this morning but probably won't go back tonight. They are having apple pie and ice cream which of course sound good but they will be discussing ministry plans for the Grand American Coon Hunt coming up in our town the first of January. I think they have done things at the event for years but it's just not a ministry that would interest me. I can't get involved in every project and think each person has a different calling in that regard. The first week in November I'll be baking some cookies for a prison ministry that a church member is involved in. I baked cookies for that some years back at my old church.
Charlene, I'm surprised you have had so few deaths. Are most of your classmates still local? Quite a few of mine have died of cancer and then some accidents. Two, a husband and wife, were murdered in the 90s. That's a lot of candy. I bought a giant bag of mini Twix and if I have any left I can hand it out, but I never have kids anymore. I only know of one child in the neighborhood.
Today is just a day of rest and I'll take advantage of that. Tomorrow I'll get back outside and see about fixing that corner of the eaves.

Good evening
We were sunny earlier but has now clouded over. No rain in the forecast. Our high for the day was 59* Tonight's low is supposed to be low 40s so I guess I'll put the last of the geraniums in the GH. Warmup starts tomorrow. Back to the 70s for most of next week. That should give me a chance to get the my lilies planted. Leaves are changing fast now & dropping fast
Charlene, thanks for the advice on the siggy. I remember Lily having the same problem & like her I can't figure out why its doing it. I'm not doing anything different & it's not every post. We have lost 8 from a class of 41. One girl & 7 boys. One fell overboard from a work boat & drowned, one literally drank himself to death & the others were cancer or heart issues. The one that fell overboard was never the same after returning from Nam. The alcoholic came from a family of same & I had such a crush on him in HS
Mary, I'm glad you got a new bird to keep you company, even if he did nip you. What is his/her name?
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Good afternoon, its 57° and it’s raining with more spotty showers still on the way. There is also a chance we will see thunderstorms develop throughout the day. Daytime highs are expected to be in the upper 50s.
Yesterday with our rainy weather it was a good day to do some house cleaning. I scrubbed floors, vacuumed carpets, cleaned the dining room, kitchen and bathrooms. I also washed a load of towels and a load of rugs.
This morning, we went to church and stopped and did some grocery shopping on the way home. We shopped at a larger store in hopes I would be able to get a few items I haven’t been able to at my local store. I was looking for a sale item and they didn’t have it either.
Bet, I love your photo of the Blue Heron. In answer to your question before moving here my niece and her family lived in the heart of New York's scenic Finger Lakes region on the northern rim of Seneca Lake in the picturesque small city of Geneva.
Sandy, yesterday was a good day for house cleaning.
Charlene, I watched a couple of Hallmark Christmas movies, and I was surprised I actually enjoyed the mystery one.
Tasty, great idea on doing an inventory, my freezer is an upright so I pretty much know what I have, it’s canned goods I should inventory.
Karen, good idea on checking Google for info. We enjoy doing video chat’s too, did one with my sister and SIL last evening.
Mary, the parakeet will be lots of company.
Leslie, living by a busy street we don’t see any kids on Halloween.
I going to watch the 2nd half of the Seattle Seahawks & Buffalo Bills game. Niece and great niece went to the game today. One is wearing a Seahawks jersey the other is wearing a Bills jersey.
Have a great day everyone.

I forgot we had a golf game booked for today. I suggested going for a walk this morning and hubby said we didn't have time, then reminded me we were booked to golf. We went but gave up after 9 holes. It was cold but it was also quite windy and that made it miserable. Just one more week before the course closes for the season. Having been home for several hours, I have finally thawed out. Lasagne for supper helped. Have a good evening.

It has been a full day for me and I am whipped! I'd go straight to bed for the night if I could. At least things have been good with DH today. I'm thankful to have easy days knowing I'll have to refuel on those days for when things are tough again. We had a ball visiting with the kids this morning. DSon had miscalculated the time difference, and along with a sleeping Winston, the chat was pushed back a bit. It was worth the wait. The kids costumes are very cute. Mac will be Megatron from the Transformers franchise. Winston was the cutest Hungry Little Caterpillar. I think even he thought so because when he saw himself on the screen, he smiled broadly. I'd love to think it was us he was smiling about, but chances are high that it wasn't that. LOL! We did learn that the kids do plan to come this next weekend, so I need to get my butt in gear to get things semi the way I want them. They plan to get a place to stay besides here, so there is less pressure on that front. I would love to think I could get Winston's no-sew blanket done by the weekend, but that is a big ol' pipe dream. I'll be lucky to have it done when they come for the holidays, but I am going to try for at least one of them to be done. Because Mac got two, guess who also has two? Winnie! I think he has escaped the lifelong moniker of Dragon that Mac bestowed upon him before birth. When I asked about him being called Dragon still, the kids say he isn't really anymore. I told them I fight to not call Winston, Winnie, and they told me it was okay. They call him Winnie so I can too. So it is Winnie and Mack-y (or however it would be spelled) along with Dad who the family often calls Trevi to this day. Tom came midafternoon and fixed the dryer hose, but noticed there might be an issue with the hose that is attached to the washing machine. It was dripping fairly steadily and the carpet was quite wet. He tightened what he thought was the problem, but will replace the hoses for us when he does the outdoor dryer vent/flap. With my luck, we probably already have rodents that made their way into the house through the vent flap being lost and me not paying close enough attention to that. I can't think of everything on time, right? I think that is it for now. I am wearing down like a windup clock. I best nap before I have to give DH his bedtime meds at 11. I don't think we have anything going on tomorrow that I must be up early for - except DH's morning pill. If I sleep well tonight, maybe I can get a lot accomplished for the kids' visit. Hope the day was good to everyone. G'night.

Karen, Re: hose replacements for washer....I suggest the steel braided ones, more expensive but fewer problems and less brain damage. Lowes and Home Depot have them. DGS has replaced all water supply lines including the toilets with them as they are flexible. Lots of older homes have hard lines that are prone to leaking. Take care and stay tough, Doris
