Good morning! It's clear and 41°. It's going to be a banner fall day. Floors didn't get done yesterday. Geez, these guys keep telling the facilities director that "something has come up".... We will go to the gym before 9am in anticipation of their arrival today...won't hold my breath! Last night's quail was very good. I got a case of the giggles when I saw this t-tiny "turkey". I thought of Gulliver! Going to an assembly in the auditorium this afternoon. The Londonderry town manager will be speaking about town government. Should be interesting. Yesterday, I made a batch of my leftover salad "gazpacho". I'm having a glass of it as a smoothie for breakfast! Weird, huh!?!? Not sure we will have for dinner. I'm hungry for some mac & cheese. We'll see! Praying for our Lori and everyone else impacted by this dangerous storm. Waving to all.

Good morning friends.
Thank you Tammy for getting in touch with Lori. I m praying they stay safe.
Ann- Sounds like a good meal last night. I like quail. My Dad used to hunt them a lot and we ate them every season. Quail, Partridge, Geese and wild Turkey.
I am off to Criminal Justice for the rest of the week. Will be until 1:40 each day so a full days classes.

Good morning everybody. Just heard from my sister in the next county that they -- finally -- have power back on! That's a relief. They had been using a generator to keep their refrigerators and freezers running but were doing all their cooking on the grill. She said she had used their smoker to bake bread -- ingenuity!
We had originally planned to have our annual sibling get-together for this weekend at the beach but decided yesterday that we needed to cancel. Since one sister was unable to come and the other tending a generator, and us waiting to hear from ServPro about the house, there was just too much up in the air. If we hear something definite about plans for our house, we could still go down to DMIL's but will have to wait and see. DH will be off anyway since it's their fall break, and I'm still taking the PTO days -- there is plenty to do.
I am getting spoiled pretty quick in this hotel, with housekeeping every other day and hot breakfast every day. Today I'm working 12-5 to cover for our d/t teller who has an afternoon appointment, so I went down to the gym for a little while and then got breakfast. I brought back a breakfast sandwich and apple to have for lunch before I go to work.
Ann, I had to laugh at your "t-tiny turkeys"! I remember a fancy dinner that our family was invited to when I was about 10 or 11, and they served quail. I thought it was too much trouble to try to get at the meat around all those bones! Never had it since!
Chris and Tasty, y'all have busy days ahead. Hope all goes smoothly.
Bet, I'm enjoying your pictures. I bet you are starting to see fall color up there -- just yesterday I saw a tree here that was turning.

Good morning. It's pretty nice this morning and Mandy was a happy girl and quick to do her thing too. This morning she jumped up on the bed all happy. First time she has done this in a loooong time. Kind of nice to have "someone" to say good morning to me.
A quick trip to Fry's for a couple of the sale items and a run through the house with the dust mop and finish the dusting is all that I have on my to do list. This place is small so it doesn't take long but it sure gets dusty and dirty quickly. Desert life.
Have a terrific Tuesday.

Good Morning, It was good to hear from Lori. I know she is trying to recuperate so I do not want to bug her too much but I was concerned about their situation with the hurricane.
Supper last night was "sloppy chicken"- it's what my MIL called it. I just browned some boneless chicken pieces and dumped a couple cans of cream of ? soup on top. I use whatever soup I have on hand so last night was cream of chicken and a cream of onion. We had rice pilaf and sliced carrots with it. Tonight I am doing pork medallions with mustard cream sauce and have no idea of sides yet.
I just got home from delivering food to the church. We did chopped bbq beef sandwiches, potato salad and no bake peanut butter bars. Quite a change from what I planned which was cranberry chicken, green beans, baked potato wedges and lemon bars. The kitchen had to use my case of chicken legs so no chicken available, and Walmart was out of lemon bar mix so I opted for a no bake peanut butter bar. The kitchen is ordering more chicken for me, so hopefully I can do that menu next week. DH found 3 large zip lock bags of cooked brisket, thus the sandwiches. Easy lunch for me.
I have no plans for today. Laundry is caught up and house looks decent. Bible study will be at someone else's house this week.
Ann, hope you get the floors repaired today.
Tasty, let us know what yummy things you canned today.
Chris, enjoy your day.
Elza, sorry you had to cancel your weekend plans.
Waving to everyone!!

Hi, again! Floor guys came at 9am and left 90 minutes later. Amazing to watch them fix the floor! After they left, I dry and wet swiftered. I also ordered new kitchen mats and more double sided tape thingies. We have two new iPads coming today. I'm replacing mine because the battery doesn't hold the charge. It's almost 10 years old. IT guy said it was "time". It will be the first time Bill has had one. I also ordered him a stand. I'm making mac & cheese for tonight...just the Ready Pasta one. Bill will cook some Andouille sausage, and I will make some sautéed petite peas, onions, and lettuce or cabbage. Here's my t-tiny turkey!!! Watching the news about the hurricane with baited breath...and praying for Lori and others! The storm sure has blossomed, and it's so close to a Cat 5. The town manager talk has been postponed so we may visit the local bank to deposit more coins since it won't be too busy there. Enjoy the afternoon.

Thanks, Tammy, for getting a message to Lori. Her proximity to the storm is worrying. I've been watching the weather folks, though I know I shouldn't. Can't help thinking about what's happening in my old neighborhood further south. Ann, your quail looks so funny with its arms and legs in the air! I'm having leftover tuna casserole for supper. Will have some pickled beets on the side this time. Special hugs to Lori.

Hi there friends! I just wanted to pop in today to let all of you know that DH and I are hurricane safe and ready while we currently are wanting for a visit from Milton. There are all kinds of warnings and evacuations here on the west coast of the state, but truthfully, the entire state is a bullseye that will see devasting damage (just two weeks after Helene). Today has been a "calm before the storm" day with a little sunshine and nice conditions for those that haven't finished their preparations; conditions are expected to go downhill by tomorrow around noon.
While I am recovering, DH has been in charge of everything. He's done a fantastic job with everything including cooking and shopping. He went on the weekend and picked up some groceries still available on the shelves. He also filled up the vehicles while the stations still had gas as now the store shelves are pretty much bare and gas stations with gas are very limited.
Traffic out on the roads is a nightmare. Many have been ordered or decided on their own to leave the area. Schools have been closed this week and some are being used as shelters. These shelters are really a last resort, so people are traveling across the state where things look better for the southeast coast. DH and I have chosen to remain in our house as we feel safe and much more comfortable in dealing with this here. The forecast model feels that the storm will make landfall right over us or just 5-10 miles north of us. They say there is going to be major flooding and storm surge that will put many areas under water, but officials say we are not in an evacuation nor flooding zone. I guess time will tell. Milton has currently jumped back up to a cat.5 storm with winds at 155, but as it gets closer to landfall it will most likely drop down to a 3 or 4. The loss of power is a real possibility for several days, so we have the generator, flashlights, portable radio etc. ready.
I hope each of you are doing well. I miss chatting with you! I look forward to getting my health back and being able to visit with you again. Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers---they are deeply appreciated. I will try to touch basis with you once again once Milton has gone through the area and let you know how we did. In the meantime, I am sure your TV stations will be posting the latest happenings if you care to follow. Lori
