Good early morning friends. Woke up at 2:30 and can not get back to sleep. So am playing on the computer.
Elza- We documented everything and we got a local contractor of our choosing. The claims adjuster tried really hard not to give us what was owed to us. I finally had to show him our policy that said Replacement value not Actual cash value. He did not know I had worked for the very same company we have our home onwers policy through. After I let him know I knew what I was talking about he was then fine. Check over your policy andmake sure you know it well.
Bet- Like Daw-Daw says take some time next week for yourself.

Good morning! I was awake early, but decided to just stay in bed in hopes of falling back to sleep...nope...got up at 4:30! It's mostly cloudy out there. I miss having the early sunrise. I have a gym class at 7:45 so have to watch the clock. Time flies when I am on the computer! Last night we had a CORN dinner with the rest of the cheesy pasta and mini-meatloaves. I made a small salad, too. Our hairdresser and our realtor who are good friends are coming to lunch today. Today is the last day to use our September points. Besides lunch for 4, I will use more tonight on shrimp cocktail and the the vegetarian pasta dish that I like to use as a side dish. No other plans for the day. Enjoy yours. Hope to get back to chat later this afternoon. Waving!

Good morning friends. It should be bright sunshine all day long according to our forecast as well as pleasantly warm. We had a good day at the market yesterday despite the County Marathon closing off much of the access to town. Then in the afternoon, I joined hubby and some friends mid golf game - I only got to join them on the 11th hole but it was lovely. Then the 4 of us sat out on the deck overlooking the bay while we had supper. This morning the canning group is going apple picking. One of the church members has offered us whatever we can use. We've picked there before and not only are his apples lovely, it is also a beautiful spot. Elza, how nice to have your nephew's place to stay for a few days. Sounds as if your insurance company is being very helpful. Lots of hugs as you face lots of decisions. Will try to get back later. Have a great day.

I'm finishing up breakfast and getting messages sent -- so many things to replace. I'm glad I can use MyChart to contact our doctor's office about replacing prescriptions that we lost.
I'm going back to work today but not to my regular branch. Since it still has no power, they are sending all of us to another branch to help today. So that will be interesting. Hopefully in a good way. 😊
Our nephew's apartment is very nice and a good location, but it is right in the city and the constant traffic is noisy! We will probably get used to it by the end of our stay.
I appreciate all the advice. We have people we trust who can give us recommendations for contractors. Our other nephew, who went through this, said his biggest issue was that he chose a contractor himself, but the contractor and the adjuster did not agree and it was a constant struggle between the two of them. We don't want that. We are praying about all these decisions and trusting the Lord to help us.
Chris, I checked our policy and we do have replacement value so will keep that in mind!
Tasty, what a lovely day. Made me smile just reading about it.
Ann, always enjoy hearing about your meals. You are so diligent with your exercise -- I am missing my morning walks.
Bet, have a good day whatever you are up to.

Elza- You will be so glad that you have replacement value and not the Actual value. Make sure that you let your claims adjuster know that. Lots of times they assume that people don't know and they are there to help the insurance company save money. Good for you for checking.

Good morning
A warm and sticky morning heading for a hot and miserable day. Thank God for air conditioning. We broke a record high heat yesterday and likely to do the same each day this week. Mandy was quick this morning which made mamma happy.
I started a load of laundry right after I poured my coffee so now some things are in the dryer and some on the lines on the porch. A trip to the bank and then home the rest of the day. The fridge repairman will come either today or Wednesday. For the last couple days the freezer did not defrost but it's only a matter of time and it will happen again. All I have in the fridge freezer are ice cube trays. I've saved some in a bowl and put it in the upright freezer just in case. I have to have ice in the summer. Cold water does not come out of our taps in the heat of the summer. The water pipes aren't very deep in the ground.

Good morning. Hot and very humid here. The water in the pool will feel good at least I hope so. Ran into lots of people on my walk this morning so didn't get much walking in only visiting. Then with humidity being so high. I couldn't finish.
My brother in law called as I had taken a picture of a leak at their place in the irrigation system. I couldn't get him off the phone.lol.
Time to get ready for swim class.

It's back to the 90s this afternoon. Bright and sunny. Bet, what a work schedule you have for the next two weeks. Slow and steady wins the race they say but I know that approach is unacceptable. Maybe an iced tea now and then? Tasty, I envy your canning groups' apple picking today. Loved doing that up North. Elza, I admire your taking a calm approach to the destruction Helene has caused you. Sounds like you are getting good advice from others who have been thru the same kind of storm damage. Tonite's supper will be pan fried shrimp with lemon butter and roasted potato quarters. No special plans for the afternoon.

Hi ! Tasty, how nice of the owner of the orchard to let your group come and pick.
Bob and Sheran are coming for dinner tonight. We are having leftover brisket, so I can just reheat that. I am trying a new recipe for bacon braised red potatoes. Theya re done stove top. We'll also have a cranberry spinach salad, baked asparagus and lemon blueberry trifle. I forgot to buy frozen dough so no bread tonight. I already had some sausage cheese ball dough so will bake that for an appy.
I am thinking of starting the hoppin john tonight and let it slow cook in the roaster overnight. Marty-my friend who bakes desserts for me baked a batch of cookies last week, but I had not asked her to! So I put them in the freezer for this week. I will get several pans of cornbread made either this evening or early tomorrow.
The weather is going to stay warm but with low humidity this week. Everyone here is watching the gulf to see what happens.
Waving to all!

Supper is ready so I'll make this quick. It's been a busy day. Picking apples, 3 loads of laundry - washed, dried, ironed and put away, sorting out recipes for canning tomorrow and shopping for canning. The place we picked apples was so beautiful - lakefront, maintained beautifully and the weather was just spectacular. We picked several baskets full and you would hardly know we had touched the trees. Made a meatloaf for supper and hubby has just put a salad together to go with it. A busy day and I'm tired but it's a good tired!! ETA: My girlfriend who lost her husband almost a year ago had her back surgery this morning. (Surgery her husband didn't want her to have.) She wasn't sure what the surgeon was going to do - he wouldn't know until he got started and saw just what state she was in. She was kind of groggy but she called me mid-afternoon to let me know it was over and she was fine. I still don't know what they did and how mobile she will be but it was very nice to hear from her.
