Good morning! It's 45° this early morning! Refreshing!!!! Yesterday was wonderful. The flag ceremony was very touching. Folks who are veterans were in their uniforms. Our resident opera singer sang the Anthem after the flag was raised. Another read a poem about the flag. All recited the Pledge. The cookout was delicious. Something I had never had was a delicious pineapple Cole slaw. We made up take-out boxes and had all for supper. No plans for today. Hope we hear from Lori. Saying prayers for her. Enjoy the day. Hope to get back to chat! Waving!

Good morning. A cool start to the day but it will warm up to about 70 and the sun will be shining. A canning morning and, yes, we need to get busy to restock after our super weekend. Today tho we are making some jellies for a local winery. They send out monthly(?) packages to some of their followers and this month it will include some wine jellies that we are making for them. So lots to get done. Wishing you all a great day. Hugs to Lori and anyone else who needs one.

Good morning friends.
Ann- My Mom used to always make pineapple slaw. I loved it. Don't find it much anymore. I will have to make it again.
What a night here. I was in bed and got woken up by the neighbor. Her son (a troubled man) had gotten arrested (again) and she asked me to go get him from the jail (it is a 20 min drive to the jail) . She said he "bailed himself out". So I made Dan get dressed and go with me. We get there and he has not "bailed himself" out. He is expecting me to pay the $500. I say to the officer "No, I am just the neighbor. I am not paying his bail" I come back home, call my neighbor and she demands I go back down and pay the $500. She does not have it and he does not have it but they want me to pay it! I said a firm "No! I am not paying to bail his drunk a$$ out of jail" She then wants to know "Well then what will he do?" me: "stay in jail". I hang up! What a night.
I, too hope we hear from Lori.

Chris, my goodness, I hope you have a quiet and peaceful day after that crazy night. Shaking my head!
Ann, sounds like a lovely day yesterday.
My sister texted to see if we wanted to get together with them for supper, so I just invited them over for Publix fried chicken! I had salads and bread and fruit, and they brought ice cream from a local dairy for dessert -- soooo good! They got several small samples so we had an ice cream buffet. My favorite was the blackberry.
Back to work today and we'll be busy. Our temps are not as cool as up north but we are still enjoying them. Looking forward to some cooler weather this week, according to the forecast.
I have Barber frozen stuffed chicken breasts in the freezer that I think will be our dinner tonight.

Good morning. I am sitting here at the food bank again for Gary. I pray next month is cooler so he can come get his own. It's only 85° but 45% humidity. I am sweating. I came at 6 and the doors don't open until 7:30. It's sad as I am probably 60 or 70 people from the front. And there is already about 100 behind me.
We had an awesome potluck last night. Ken provided the chicken in memory of his wife. It was good to see him. He is the one who fell on street (asphalt) and laid there for only 15 minutes and was then flown to burn center. He had skincrafts done Sunday on his back and butt so we were surprised to see him.
Ann- someone made that coleslaw with pineapple yesterday. Another dish I hadn't seen in years was the shredded carrots with raisin salad.
Tasty- that's great you are making wine jelly and you each helping the other.
Chris - oh my gosh. What a night for you. I can't believe a neighbor would even ask that of you especially with him being drunk.
Elza- it sounds like you also had a nice evening. That would be fun trying different flavors of ice cream. I play cards with a lady whose son just opened up a Baskin Robin's here. She keeps asking me to with her for ice cream. I keep telling her no as our neighbor went and said they got 2 small bowls and it was almost $20. I will just stick to store brands.

Good morning. A warm and sticky start to a hot and sticky day. A load of laundry swishing around in the washer and Mandy has been out. Not much else on the agenda for today besides go to the office and pay the electric bill, eat and take Mandy out a couple more times.
Chris you are a better person than I. I would not have even gone to the jail, I would have hung up on the neighbor to begin with. Not my problem.
Elaine, you are too kind, like Chris. Do others help you as much as you do others. God bless you for your kindness to others.
Hot coffee isn't cutting it this morning. Time for iced coffee......

Hello, It felt nice out early this morning but is now up to 87, so pretty warm out there. Lucky for me, I have no place to go today. DH picked up all the food and dropped it off at the church on his way to an appointment.
I located a phone number for Lori, one I had when we met up with her and DH back in 2013. If the number is still valid, I hope to hear from her as I sent her a text message.
Chris, that was very bold of your neighbor to even call you at that time, then expect you to foot the bill! Good for you for not doing it. That guy needs to learn a lesson!
Elaine, sure hope the line moved fast for you this morning. It is kind of you to do that chore. I doubt I would be so agreeable-lol.
Our friends Bob and Sheran will be here around October 1. We just had conflicting schedules last visit and I never got to cook dinner for them. I planned a nice menu but do you think I can find it now? Of course not. So, I am starting from scratch. That's not a hardship. While browsing recipes on the computer I did locate a few good sounding recipes.
Other than laundry, not very much is going on today. I need to work on menus for us this week and what I am going to make next week for the mission. I found an easy recipe for chicken enchiladas, and I might do charro beans to go with it since I have been given about 15 pounds of pinto beans!
Waving to everyone. have a fabulous day!

It's been raining off and on all morning. I even got a light shower as I rolled in the garbage bins. I don't mind walking in the rain at all. Temps are only in mid 70s, a nice change. I did my pre-clean clean earlier and am washing a few loads in between rest stops. Chris, the audacity! What's wrong with people? Enjoy your iced coffee, Mamma. I never really got in to iced coffee but there are sure several combinations to choose from nowadays. Supper tonite is spaghetti and garlic bread. I think I'll pick out the meatballs and save them for a meatball sandwich later this week. I don't like soggy sandwiches so it's quite the procedure to put them together one meatball at a time. Wishing a peaceful day for all.

Afternoon! It's a beautiful day out there. We went to the gym and did the weight machines this morning. It was fun and felt good. Other than that, it's been pretty quiet. I did sort through my sun catchers and other wall hangings. Got them washed and ready to hang. Just need to decide what windows to hand them in. I also finished my Jodi Picoult book..."Sing You Home". I'll return it to the Baldwin library on the way to dinner. I have another one to read before I have to spend more time picking out another. Tammy - That potato recipe is a keeper. I once tried it on sweet potatoes! You always have such good recipes. Chris - Good grief! What a ridiculous demand that was. Tasty - I'm glad you had such a good turnout at the market even if it means working like crazy to replenish your stock. Helen - Good idea to use the meatballs for another meal. Do you toast the roll before adding the meat? Mamma - I drink iced coffee all year long! I used to make my own, but now I buy the bottled stuff. Elaine - I'll have to look up a recipe for that Cole slaw. Wow! Burns from the hot pavement.... yikes! I'm watching 'Everwood' on Freevee. It's a good series. Have a good evening! Saying prayers for Lori.

Even with working only 5 hours, I was exhausted when I got home! It's always busy after a long weekend, but my goodness, it did not stop today. I sat down on the sofa to watch TV and dozed off for a minute.
Chicken breasts are in the oven and I think we still have some sides left from last night so it shouldn't be too much work to get supper on the table.
Hoping that we get some word from Lori soon.
