Good afternoon/evening and a big Hi to everyone. I’m back and hoping to stay back. This post will be short as I just posted on the Midwest thread today explaining a bit (well, enough anyway) about why I was gone. I’ve been reading the last couple days but won’t respond to anyone just yet, CRS has hit me big time. Tonight I’m sort of cooking, helping DH anyway. I’m making the mushroom gravy to go with his meat patties. Salisbury Steak I think it’s called. I’ll also do the mini potatoes and maybe frozen peas. Well, that’s it from here, I’ll try to be a bit more regular here, give me time. Jan

Good evening! I was tired today when I got home and after making a pan of Rice Krispie Treats and putting the chicken pie in the oven, I lay down on the sofa and actually went to sleep!
Mamma and Bet, I'm having night sweats/hot flashes again too. It's been years since that's bothered me but when I looked it up, apparently it's not uncommon for them to show up again. I'm keeping that ceiling fan going at night.
Chris, hoping Brian's surgery can get scheduled ASAP.
Birdy, I felt bad for your little hummingbird having to sip in the rain! Maybe you will have some sunny days ahead to enjoy watching them.
Oh my goodness, Elaine, I can't believe how hot it is there even before the sun comes up!
Lori, my pot pie filling has potatoes in it so I got to celebrate one of the holidays today. I completely agree with you about the August to October stretch. It feels even hotter because we're so tired of it by then.
Helen, how nice to get your supper made early in the day. Sounds like good comfort food to me.
Ann, my sisters & I loved playing cards too. We still enjoy playing contract rummy -- it uses 2 packs of cards.
Tammy, I can't believe your great grand is already starting pre-K! Wow!
We're hoping to talk with DS1 sometime this week. He has just moved back to Louisville to start a new assignment, which was not something he was expecting. The archbishop asked him to move to a parish where the pastor had to leave unexpectedly, so in the last 3 weeks, he's had to tell his parishioners in Bardstown goodbye, and start at a new one. He's still not in the rectory yet, but is staying with a seminary buddy at his parish. He's also chaplain at a high school in Louisville, but only has the 1 parish, although it's bigger than the ones he was at in Bardstown.
Jan, just saw your post on the other thread. I'm glad to see you back here.

Hi. Dh has beef roast, potatoes, carrots in the slow Cooker. He had it done when I got home from taking Judy to her appointment.
BET- Thank you very much. I'm hoping this does it. I appreciate you helping me.
Ann- we play hand and foot, hand, knee and foot, samba, 13, pinochle. Those are weekly games. Sometimes we play skipo, kings in the corner, sequence, phase 10.
Lori- sorry to read that you had trouble getting up the steps. Especially when you so faithfully ride your bike.
Bet- that apple dessert sure sounds yummy. I made a cherry cheesecake. Needed to use up some ingredients before they expire.
Helen- I like casseroles.
Tammy- I have a spaghetti casserole recipe that uses Rotel.

Been a busy day altho I'm not really sure just what I did . . . I just know that I haven't sat down and relaxed all day! Tried a new recipe for supper, sausage and corn tart. It was quite good but really just another name for quiche. I also spent a good bit of time slicing jalapenos - again. That's about 20 lbs in the last 9 days - I don't even really like them. Good to see you back posting Jan. Hope you are feeling better. Talking of feeling better, hope you are feeling better too Lori. Hope the w/e with some time with your family helped you.
G'night!
