Good Monday morning! It's so humid out there that our windows are fogged up!! Yesterday, we had several thunderstorms pass through. This morning I'm going to try a class here called, 'Livelong Lifters'. Beginners are welcome so I'll see how I like using weights and stretchy bands. No one took any of the vegetables my cousin gave me that I put out in the lobby. There are two vegetarian friends going to this class so I'll as if they would like them. My pantry over the door unit came last night...delivered to the door. Will work on organizing that today. I can't wrap my head around all of that rain that is coming from Debby. We are being told to expect over 2 inches...a mere drop in the bucket considering. Finished the salmon chowder. We also had a few small appetizers that I ordered the other day to try...roasted cauliflower with curry sauce and a pimento cheese spread while the chowder was heating. Enjoy your day. Waving!

A quick post this morning---hopefully I will be back later. We are headed up the highway to another dump/landfill/recycle place that takes items that the one here in town doesn't---old paint, roofing material, paneling, drywall, copper tubing, etc.
Yesterday evening and throughout the entire night, our phones kept coming with countless alerts on the weather in Sarasota. There were numerous alerts of tornado watches, tornado warnings, and flooding. As of this morning, we had 13.2 inches of rain and many alerts that roads and businesses are closed today due to the flooding and power outages. DH didn't get a hold of his friend, Fred, yet, but will try again shortly.
Just got out of the shower and DH just said he's done loading the truck, so I have to go. Later my friends. Lori

Good morning and doing a happy dance.
The owner of the my new home accepted my offer. It was way lower than he was asking but Gary convinced him to take my offer. I have every emotion going on in my head but it will settle down in a couple days. Lots to do now and I have several lists already made. My handyman Oscar, is already scheduled to go there this morning and give me an estimate on the things on his list that I need done before I move into the new place.
This morning Lynda is going over with me to do a walk through and check out everything to make sure it all works. My friend and realtor is meeting us there too. Then to the office for all the paper work, call a moving company for an estimate, and the list goes on and on. I may need to be cloned.
Another very hot day and it's muggy out there this morning according to the weather.com. I've not been out just yet.
Either today or tomorrow I'll have towels and a load of dark clothes to wash. I'll get my work done here on an as need basis.
Happy Monday to all.

Good morning friends.
Mamma, woohoo! I am so glad that this is working out for you. My feet are doing a happy dance for you right now!
Chris, I'm sorry to hear about your DDIL'S family in Sarasota. It sounds like parts of Florida could be getting an epic amount of rain from the storm. The last time we had a storm that made it our distance, we had the outbreak of tornadoes. They seem to think that we aren't in danger of that this time. I hope so. Elza, hoping you folks don't get hit.
The hospital has me scheduled for August 13th for my procedure. However we don't have a time yet. But things are moving along thank heavens.
Have a good Monday everybody.
Birdy

Sorry to hear another hurricane is doing so much damage in FL and then heads North. Lori, sure hope you get good news on possible flooding. I know what it's like to be on pins and needles watching from afar. We often got out of town to DD/DSIL in Maryland or wherever they happened to live at the time. Good luck! Bet, it's wonderful you got such good news from your doctor. I am so happy for you. Mamma, congrats on purchase of a new home. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right! Elaine, please get a doctor's opinion on what to do with your legs. I'm afraid I would be scratching them bloody in the meantime. Birdy, good news that your surgery has been scheduled and there's not long to wait. Chris, we lived in Atlanta and absolutely loved it. Hated to leave. Will be great to have great doctors so close. Tasty, you and your friends have your canning down to a science. And all those pecan pies sound so good. Ann, maybe your neighbors don't like to cook anymore? You do it just right I think with some restaurant meals always available and some of those restaurant meals made into your own dishes. Elza, stay safe with that awful weather on its way. Supper tonite will be corn on the cob (yes, again!), brussels sprouts, and sliced tomatoes. Sweet dreams

I now have cauliflower ear but Dan is set for his coverage. He is now on United Health Plan same as me. No more huge premium payments and out of pocket payments. We were at about $896 a month and $4600 deductible plus all his meds were not covered. Now he is! Whew! We are so glad to have this done!

Mamma -- congratulations! You are on your way and although it's a lot of work I think you will be glad to make the change. Will be praying that your current place sells like Ann's!
Birdy and Helen, right now it looks like a couple rainy days here in the Upstate, but lots & lots of rain around Charleston. DMIL is the next county inland (Dorchester) but they could still get a lot. DH was planning to go there this weekend but will talk with her later, and probably his brother as well, to see what they're expecting. And of course, Debby could change direction at any time!
Chris, great to know that y'all got the insurance taken care of. A big sigh of relief for better coverage and less $$!
Lori, hoping that the heavy rains will not affect your home and that DD & Lilith are safe & dry as well.
Elaine, it's about time, right? Seems like your clubhouse has been closed forever.
Tasty, hope the dentist appt went well.

Good afternoon, friends! First off, mamma, congrats!!!! I am so very happy for you (and Mandy) and I'm sure Mark is looking down, happy for you as well! I wish you, my friend, the very best in the coming years in your new place. Thank you for sharing the comings and goings and keeping us posted. What an exciting time you've got coming up! Do you have a projected move-in date in your mind?
Birdy, so glad to read that you now have a date for your procedure scheduled. Slow and steady, things now moving forward for you and know you'll be in our prayers.
Tasty, no we do not live on a hill----for the most part, it's flat as a pancake in Florida. Many areas are at or below sea level. We are blessed that we live in the very beginning of our subdivision which the first few homes are at the highest point compared to others, but not on a hill.
DH spoke to Fred and then two ladies in our subdivision he knows from the HOA. Unfortunately, all of them said they got no warning of this possible flooding, everything on the local news kept talking about storm surge. Since none of us live on the beach, nobody gave it much thought and everyone was caught off guard. Fred, who lives about 6-8 miles from us had 6-inches of water in his garage and everything was floating this morning. Rain had came up to just 1-inch he said from his front door. He is unable to use his toilets as the water came right up to the top and filled them and he can not run water in the kitchen sink as it too is filled with water. Surprisingly, he still had power, and said there was nothing he was going to be able to do today but sit and cry in his beer.
Sara, the lady that lives way in the back of the subdivision and is cutting our lawn, she said water was right at her door, but everything else was still working except for her cable service.
Clare, lives across the street and down about 5 houses from us. She said she would open her door and look up the street and see if we were in the high and dry, if only she could. The large pond (on our side of the street) and directly across from her over flowed and she is at one of the lowest points. She sent DH about 6 pictures and there was no way she was going to get out unless she wanted to swim. in a few of the pictures we could see water up to the bottom of the mailboxes. In other pictures we saw cars that had been abandoned and water over the wheels and touching the door handles.
Since then, Fred, Sara, and Clare have all called back and said they'd like to help us by walking around our home, but there is no way they can get out of their homes, and no way to drive the roads that look like lakes. Sadly, more rain is in the forecast for yet today. We told all three to not worry, if there is any damage, it's done. We'll just have to deal with it when we get back. That being said, we were planning to leave on Saturday, but we may instead be heading back earlier, maybe Wednesday or Thursday. Just put on the news from back home (love that we can stream this). The flooding is unreal, and we can see the people being rescued by boats. Shelters are being opened for those that need them and unfortunately, they said to expect additional flooding as more rain is on the way.
Have to get dinner going now. I defrosted two ribeye's, made a small salad for each of us, and will grill a sweet potato to split.
Wishing each of you a pleasant evening. Will talk to you sometime tomorrow when maybe I'll know what we'll be doing. Sweet dreams. Lori

Oh Lori, I'm so sorry to read about all the flooding in your neighbourhood. Makes it even harder for you, being away from home. Hope MIL understands when you tell her you are leaving early. Chris, very happy to read about the changes in insurance for Dan. The medical system in the states is so different to I have ever known but I know a lot of medical stuff is out of pocket for many down there. Great news.

Hello, Mamma, congratulations! I am happy for you.
Lori, saying a prayer for your home to stay high and dry. That situation sounds like what happened to us on August 1, 1989. A tropical depression parked over Houston and would not move so we got like 13 inches of rain. The water was up to the bottom of mailboxes out on the street. It came up to our front door, but did not come in-we were saved by about 1-2 inches is all.
Now we are watching the next tropical wave. It could come our way but that is like a week away. We are prepared if it does come.
Chris, that is wonderful news about insurance coverage. Happy for you.
I went with DH to his appointment this morning. He saw his oncologist. I just waited in the car. He said it went well and does not have to return for 6 months. We stopped at IHOP for breakfast on the way home.
I just got home from the store. It is about 96 outside and a feel like of 104. I am going to make stromboli for the mission tomorrow. I needed about 12 pizza crusts so braved the crowd and shopped at Walmart. My little store probably would not carry that many. I got all I needed at Walmart for the week. I have lots of eggs so will do deviled eggs, and dessert will be fruit salad. A nice dessert for these hot days I think. I will hold back some for us. Supper tonight will be salisbury steak.
Waving to everyone! Hope we all sleep well tonight-neither DH nor myself slept much at all last night for some reason.
