Good morning. 38 and high is 45. Rain on the way. Looks like it will rain most of the day. Dd is supposed to have a game today but I’m guessing that won’t happen.
Yesterday we ended up going to the fleet store for some supplies for softball then spent several hours up there working. They installed rails along the tops of the dugouts recently but the poles had some wiggle to them. Dh was worried if the girls start shaking the fence that a pole could fall and hit someone. He used cable and a turnbuckle to secure the front of the dugout to the back with applied tension. Hopefully that will help and once the tarps are installed on top it will be even more secure. We had 4 to do and there was a learning curve involved. We also got the dugout wraps on the 2 varsity dugouts. That wasn't on the agenda but since we were there I wanted to get it done for the girls sake. That was a challenge as the wind was blowing 35 mph. Imagine trying to hang a heavy tarp thats 7’ tall and 16’ long while the wind is blowing straight at it. Not perfect but we got it done. I had to build a fire when we got home I was chilled. I did get some watering and transplanting done. Idk why I think I need 2 dzn coleus but yet here we are! Not to mention I have 3 downstairs I overwintered and took cuttings of! SMH!
Not sure what I am doing today. Need to go get some fruit and few other groceries. I might go to the fleet store and get some pavers they have marked down (left from last year). They will work for what I am planning I think and cheap enough at 89 cents each. I should plant my broccoli and cauliflower this week and maybe calendula so today may be a good day for that.
Karen-I am sorry things are continuing to spiral. I hope you are talking to ds about these things and getting his input as well. If you don’t have a care plan in place already I hope you can figure one out.
Gayle-Are you now planning to just leave the stump in place?
Hope those who wanted to watch the eclipse get to. Full clouds here so won’t see any of it. Have a great day.

Good morning. There is sunshine but a bit cloudy. Hope the clouds go away for the eclipse. Going up into the low 60's today so it should be a nice day outside.
Yesterday I worked on the garden some more. My knees and back were telling me to stop so I did some other things outside. So nice to hear the birds singing away.
I went to bed last night and woke up around 12am. Couldn't go back to sleep so watched tv for a little while. I put my foot into my slipper and had a sharp pain on my left foot knuckle where the big toe is. Come to find out a yellow jacket crawled in my slipper and either bit or stung me. Needless to say it's dead now. The foot is a bit tender today but not to bad.
The deer decided to munch the lilies Saturday night. I sprayed Gayle's recipe and need to make more. Wish they would just go away. There is enough vegetation for them to eat away from the house. Have a great Monday.

Good morning. We are at 57 now but going to 79 and sunny so will be a warm day for the eclipse. I need to go to Walmart for a few things at least. I think mother Hubbard's cupboards and freezer are bare. At least that forces DGS and his GF to go out and buy their own. They rarely eat what I cook anyway as she is a very picky eater. Perhaps I'll make some broccoli with cheese sauce today because that is one of the few things I make that she will eat and I have a big bag of frozen broccoli in the freezer. I should probably do an inventory of everything to see what I need. Yesterday at the zoo the kids wanted to climb the rock wall tower and DGD who is 7 made it close to the top twice. I'm sure she is probably sore today because I could she her arms shaking as she tried to pull herself up. Youngest DGS did well also but he is so short it was harder for him to reach. He's always been a climber. The oldest didn't want to do it, saying he didn't like heights, but decided to try it anyway. He only went a few feet and decided it wasn't for him. I don't think he will ever be athletic, although he is in OT now and they are working on his coordination. He is definitely going to struggle more than the other 2. DGD loves school and learning but if I ever ask him about school he says he doesn't want to talk about school. I'm sure at least some of the other kids avoid him because he's a little different. He's friendly and smart but just a little different at times.
I'll be back later.

It is a beautiful morning in Eclipse Day Land. Already at 53° headed up to near 70° if not above. I'm still not sure what we will do this afternoon during "totality". We have the glasses if we want to watch. My to-do list is a mile long for the day. I keep adding tasks to my Google calendar that don't get done, and those things don't include laundry, watering my plants & transplanting, calling the doctor for DH, meal planning etc. It's quite dizzying to think about. The deacon just called and said he is on his way. I hope he is able to do all his home visits before things get crazy around here. I told him we could wait if he wanted to, but he said he was on his way. I am keenly aware of DH's condition and very afraid of the future. Placing him in a facility will have to be a last option because we don't have the money for that. His pension and everything else will have to go towards his care and I will have nothing to live on except my very paltry SS monthly payment. I couldn't pay rent with what I get. Pretty frightening concept! As a rule, I am a planner. It's my comfort zone, but right now thinking too far in advance paralyzes me. Forget day by day. I am going hour by hour and hoping to get through it. I may need some plant therapy today. Whatcha think? LOL! Wishing everyone a good day.

Good afternoon all.
Had one of those mornings where the time flew by but I did get some granola made and a batch of Elza's chocolate chip oatmeal muffins. I have made them before and we really like them. With oatmeal in them I can pretend they're healthy 😃.
Last night when I went to make supper, quiche, I couldn't find any of the dishes I normally use for quiche. Oops! I know exactly where they were up until the last week of January when we had to empty the storage/laundry room so the new cupboards could be put in. I couldn't find them, hubby looked and didn't find them so instead we used the bacon that was going to go in the quiche and instead had bacon on a bun!!
We'll find them somewhere, sometime. . . .
Tonight, I'm thinking it will be chicken and salad.
We are in the path of totality for the eclipse but the sun has disappeared so I'm not hopeful for 3.22 this afternoon. What will be, will be.
Have a marvelous Monday

I watched the eclipse on the computer, it is cloudy here. Started out sunny but the clouds moved in so...
The temperature is currently at 62°.
Nothing much happening here so I shall go back to my book.
Have a good day

The temperature dropped noticeably but the clouds moved in so the eclipse really was a total bust here. I feel sorry for those who came to the county because we were supposed to have 100% totality. That's life I guess. Sure got colder quickly. What really surprised me was just how quickly it got light again.

To many clouds to see the eclipse but for about 3 mins it got really dark like night time and did get cooler out. To much hype and the weather didn't cooperate. It was eery and cool though.

Sandy, I'm sorry the weather didn't cooperate for you and many others. It was perfect here but we only had 74%. I did look at it though and it was like an orange moon, larger than a crescent. They say it can change the weather and get much cooler and can even have storms. I watched it live on MAX (CNN) from across the country, beginning in Texas near where my aunt, uncle and cousin live, to Niagara Falls and beyond. They were saying that if you have a newborn, they will be old enough to drink by the time of the next one. I think I'll tell my grandson that. Sue, who used to be on here, had clouds and rain but the sun came out after the eclipse. I'm sure that was disappointing.
Can't say I did much other than the usual sweeping, taking the trash and spending a chunk of money at Walmart. I did let all of the cats outside and they spent the day out, not coming in until supper time. They are all sacked out now. I don't think I mentioned this morning that I got way too much sun on my cheeks yesterday. My face has felt hot all day and I won't be surprised if my nose peels. I didn't stay in the sun much because there was a lot of shade and inside exhibits. But I guess over 5 hours I got more than I thought and the spf 30 moisturizer I used on my face before I left home wasn't enough. I don't know why it just hit my cheeks and nose though.
Have a relaxing evening.

I went out to the store about an hour after the eclipse here and the sun was shining nicely! It's almost 8 pm now and I just took the garbage out and was just in light pants and a t-shirt- it was warm again! That would be me too Leslie! I need sunscreen. Hubby just has to see the sun and he turns brown. Don't think he's ever burned.

Good evening,
Not a bad day here,in the low 70s I think but still with a chilly breeze.
I was inside at the the of the eclipse & didn't pay much attention to it. It didn't get really dark though. More like early evening & didn't last very long.
I went to Lowe's this morning to get some gravel(busted bag for 1/2 price) & my washbasin type pot is now firmly in place on top of the stump.
Yes Melissa, I decided to keep it. I got tired of waiting on Steve to come take care of it & tired of my back yard looking like a war zone. It's been almost 7 mo. I couldn't do anything to make it look better because he might show up someday with the heavy equipment to destroy it again. Now I can start trying to make repairs.
After that I cut the grass & weeds (right now, mostly weeds) in the back yard & was surprised how much better it looked just from doing that.Mower got hung up on a couple of ruts I missed so got those smoothed out.
Then I raked up another section of moss from the front yard & sowed grass seed.
Got my new weather station set up. It's got all the bells & whistles; some of which I won't use. For example you can use it for an alarm clock with a snooze button. Won't be doing that. Temp alerts that you can set to warn you if the temp goes above or blow whatever you set it for & a frost alert which goes off if the temps fall below freezing Don't need those. The humidity icon in addition to giving you the reading for indoors & out also has a needle that tells you Dry, Good or Humid. And a reading for mold danger, if any. The only thing I don't like is the Forecast blinks. For instance, it says partly cloudy & the little clouds sit there & blink, blink, blink. Don't see anyway to stop that. The instructions say it takes a few days for that feature to work properly so maybe they will eventually stop blinking. And at 1st I couldn't find any way to switch from Celius to Farenheit but I did finally find that by just pushing buttons until one worked.
Melissa, you & DH are good Sports parents too, long with everything else you do. None of my Coleus seeds germinated this yr., which is very unusual. So I'll have to buy some & start over. I'm hoping the church in Mike's town has their plant sale this yr. They didn't do it last yr.
Leslie, glad you got to spend time with your GKs. Sounds like you had fun.
Karen, maybe DH is just going through a bad spell & will be better in a few days.
I guess that's it for now.

The day is ending feeling considerably better than it began. I guess sleep kinda matters. Getting in a nap after the eclipse was what I apparently needed more than I realized. I feel like I got a lot accomplished. Maybe that is part of the weight feeling lighter on my shoulders. I got a few things knocked off my to-do list. I potted up my coleus cuttings, worked on bills, finally took the Easter decorations down the basement, made an appointment for DH to see the doctor on Wednesday, and spent the evening weeding the flower bed along the backside of the house. Since coming in, I had supper and did the dishes. I'm going to have to get used to doing those again. DH had been doing them but hasn't shown any interest in doing them since his fall. I think his confidence is shaken in what he can and can't do. The deacon came this morning and stayed a shorter time than he usually does, but we all wanted him to get his visits in before getting home to view the eclipse. At least he came today. It was good for me that he did. Probably good for him, too. He always tells us he loves us, but today when he left he told me to call him if DH goes into the hospital. Truly, he is like family to us. DH didn't change his mind about going out to see the eclipse, but I did. We were right in the path of the best viewing and I had bought glasses, so I didn't want to waste the chance or the glasses purchase. It was pretty amazing and I'm glad I did make the effort. I'm also glad we didn't go anywhere to see it. There were viewing parties all over the place today, making me glad I wasn't on the road trying to get anywhere quickly. That was a chief reason I called so late in the day to make DH's appointment with the doctor. He was not willing to go out on the road in the afternoon for nuthin'. Gayle, I hope you are right about DH going through a bad spell. He has had them before and been "okay" after some time, but I do recognize that one day that won't be the case. He was all upset tonight because he said he didn't know where I was. I had told him I was going out into the backyard to do some work. He either didn't hear me or it didn't get processed fully. I was outside for maybe 45 minutes. We go longer than that without him even missing me, but I think the timer on the microwave going off and going off and going off was a reminder to him that I wasn't taking care of that. I had put my supper in the microwave and walked away from it thinking I could eat in the dark, but the yard was calling me in the daylight. I should have taken my phone outside with me, but I had told him I was going outside so I didn't think I needed it. It was kind of funny that he left me a message on the house phone asking why I was outside, so at some point he knew where I was. What I think happened was he had a logjam of stuff spinning around in his head. He knew garbage had to go out. The microwave was annoying him. AND, he had messed up the TV and needed me to fix that for him. It was sensory overload. My cousin sent me a link today that is from the CDC for caregivers, family and friends of people living with ALZ and dementia. I think I am going to call our insurance man tomorrow and see if there are any programs we could take advantage of through our insurance company. I guess there is a fee for one program in particular, but it may be worth it to my sanity to invest in that. Could buy me time also. Melissa, I am keeping DSon in the loop. I'd really be nuts if I didn't have him to keep me going. Thank you for your kind words. Thanks, Mary, for your thoughtfulness also. Did you go to the clubhouse to see the eclipse? It did feel like summer, didn't it? Even with the nap, I am feeling my eyelids beginning to droop. It must be time to start winding down now. I hope the day was good to everyone. See you in the morning.
