Morning! It's a cloudy and cold start to the day here. More rain is on the way. Fish dinner was good last night. Tonight Bill is cooking some venison round steak that his friend gave to him. He says he'll cook it like he does the pork tenderloin medallions. I'll bake sweet potatoes and serve it with seasoned cauliflower. Waving to all! Enjoy your morning!

Good morning Ann and all who follow. A rainy day here in MB too. Looks like a huge band of rain is moving up - gonna rain here all day and it will be warm enough that it could well produce thunderstorms this afternoon. Pretty much the same weather at home today, but 20 degrees cooler, getting colder overnight and then it will turn to snow. The joys of March. Sounds like a good day to get some laundry done. Make it a super Saturday 🌧.

Good morning friends.
For sme reason I slept in. I woke up at 5 and was going to get up and fell right back asleep until 7:15!
Ann- I have not had venison in so long. My Dad would make a really good roast or stew. We are supposed to get snow here starting today and ending on Monday by the looks of it. Well the sap will run for sure!
Tasty- sounds like a good day to just sit around and watch the ocean while it storms. One of my favorite things to do when we are at the ocean. For some odd reason I love a good thunder storm.
Going to have our New England Boiled Dinner today as Brian has to work on St Patty's day so we decided to do it all today.

Good morning. Its only 7:30 and I've already been to the dog park. Went over andvfed Fluffy and let Cookie play with him for awhile. Then came home and went for my walk, then got Coco and went for her walk. It's going to be a long day.
Bruce needs to do the lines for the horse races this afternoon. He is making the sloppy joes for the noon meal.
Tonight, I have bunco. Cookie also goes home tonight.
Ann- I have some deer stew meat in freezer that Tom brought back for us. I think we will have it this week.
Tasty-As Chris said just sit and watch the storm.
Chris- you must of been tired. Dh got up at 3:30 to use bathroom and Cookie must of figured it was morning, lol. Your supper sounds yummy. Not sure what we will have as we will be eating a big meal at lunch. but I do have pork chops out.

Good morning, In spite of the lightheadedness I have everything outside ready for sales. I hope I can sell at least half. But I won't hold my breath. I just hate the thought of bringing it all back in again. Maybe I'll just donate it all if it doesn't sell. Too much hassle to do this again.
A chilly 53º but nice and sunny with very little breeze so far. I'm just sitting in the house waiting until 9 and hope it warms up. I'll sit outside once it warms up some. I don't do cold. hehehe
Happy Saturday.

Good morning. We are unfortunately looking at snow overnight as that darned "s" word seems to find us. Hopefully by the end of Monday it'll be history. Bet, by thelooks of the weather maps, you might be in for sure too. Oh, well--if you live in Upstate New York, you learn to expect this in March.
All your food sounds so good. I'm already exploring good take-out Fried Chicken in anticipation of being able to eat some soon!
Have a great Saturday. Talk to you later.

Good morning. It was 33°here this morning and to get into the mid 40's with rain this afternoon changing to snow this evening with the possibility of 5-8" of heavy wet stuff. Not very happy about that and it is to be nasty until Monday night. I have been busy all week and just too tired when I get home to post but have been reading. this coming week is going to be worse. Then if the roads are bad Monday it is going to make it a disaster. Like Chris I woke at 5 and the next thing I knew it was 7:30 so I have been behind all morning. I spent close to 2 hours printing off and setting up my work for the week. I still don't have it all organized as to where I am going each day. I had a nice visitor in my yard this morning. One of the biggest Tom Turkeys I have ever seen here. He was calling for a mate. I know there are a number of females here. I was hopping they would show up so he could spread his plumage and preform for them. It is quite a sight to see. Dinner last night was Shrimp Bisque. I though I had shrimp stock in the freezer but I didn't luckily I have enough shrimp shelled saved in the freezer to make the stock for the Bisque. I have Egg and olive salad sandwich to go with it and Moose Track Ice Cream.
I have the brine made for my corned beef. Should have done that a few days ago but a week of brining will be fine. Also finished loading the dish washer and that is running. I need to take care of some food in the refrigerator so I have room to get the pan with the corned beef in. Once I get 3 pounds of shrimp packaged up from the freezer I will have enough room to get things from the refrigerator to the freezer. It seems like I spend more time moving food around than I do cooking and eating.
I got a phone call last night that they had talked with Marlene and she and Lilly were doing just fine. She just doesn't fell she has any thing to say here except the same old thing. I do hope she changes her mind. She hasn't even been reading for over a month.
Ann, you aren't alone on not finding good buys lately. However, I did get beef eye of the round for $3.99 a pound this week. I sent you an message. I have a couple of meals of venison steaks in the freezer that I need to have one of these days. It is my favorite meat and I get some I stretch it as far as possible.
Tasty, hope you find something more interesting to do than laundry. I like Chris's idea, sit back and relax and watch the storm over the ocean.
Chris, enjoy your St. Patty's dinner to night with Brian and Family.
Elaine, your dog neighbors sure keep you busy. I guess on the bright side look at all the exercise you get every day. Have fun at the horse races today.
Mamma, good luck with the sale today.
Birdy, good to see you posting today. Hope you find that good fried chicken. Some was talking yesterday but how good Chic fil A's chicken sandwich is. We don't have one around here. You would have loved the big gobbler that was in my yard this morning. I am not sure what is going on with my birds. There should be plenty available to them in the woods now but they are going through food in a day that all winter it lasted them 2 days. Will be thinking of you on Thursday.
Dinner tonight is will be the beef tips I was going to have earlier in the week over mashed potatoes, fresh asparagus and dessert not sure of yet.
Have a great day.

A nice quiet Saturday afternoon. I went to our monthly ladies' Coffee Chat at church this morning -- took a batch of Cinnamon Raisin Oat Triangles, one of Mama's favorites that I hadn't made in a long time and they were a big hit. I brought 2 pieces back home -- just enough for me & DH to enjoy! I was asked to share the recipe there, and will share it with y'all too.
Tasty, we had rain all last night and this morning, and it's misting rain here now. A little chillier but not bad at all.
Bet, we have turkeys in our neighborhood and a month or so ago, I saw a big tom turkey with his tail spread and all fluffed out just strutting down the cul-de-sac in full regalia! He was a sight to see! He had 2 ladies with him but I guess he was still looking for love.
Birdy, wish I could send you some Publix fried chicken. It's our favorite.
Ann, your sides sound yummy! I've only had venison as a roast or in chili but I know those medallions will be good too.
Chris, y'all enjoy your Boiled Dinner. That is something I've never had. Enjoy your St Patricks Day celebration!
Elaine, Cookie was ready to go real early! Hope you can get more sleep tonight.

Just taking a quick break. The beef is in the refrigerator brining and was packaging the shrimp into meal size and ran out of the roll of plastic I was using so need to go roll 25' from a 50' roll onto a tube for the machine. Not my favorite job.
Elza nice to read you are having a nice relaxing afternoon. Those triangles look good.

It's cool at 58 here. I had to switch to a muumuu! In other news, I'm debating whether to buy an avocado or not. It's not that I don't like them but rather to me it has little to no taste. People have been smearing it on everything and dropping it in salads, etc. Looks good kinda so I should throw caution to the wind and try smearing away, I guess. Birdy, good on ya wishing for fried chicken for your first dinner. Yummy. Bet, I know you like to be busy. Just wish you could take a break with your feet up for a little while. My supper will be Ham and Scalloped Potatoes and Buttered Peas. Hugs to all.
P.S. Wow that was fast! Bet, I see you took my advice. Didn't need any prodding after all. 😊

Good afternoon, friends. Today is National Crabmeat Day and National Meatball Day.
Birdy, what a lovely treat to see a post from you today. I will be thinking of you and saying some prayers on Thursday. I bet you can't wait to sink into a juicy piece of fried chicken! Yum!
Ann, DH said he doesn't want to be rude, but he'd be more than happy to join you and DH for dinner.
Chris, I hope you and the family are enjoying your New England boiled dinner. Haven't had that in a long time and it sounds delicious!
Tasty, hope the weather conditions your way have changed for the better and that you and DH were able to get out and do something today.
Elaine, looks like the dog sitting has been keeping you moving. Horse races this afternoon and bunco tonight---think you'll hit the pillow tonight like a rock!
mamma, can't wait to hear how your sale went today! Hope much better than you thought. I've had a few garage sales in the past and for all the work, I never made a heck of a lot of money. Everyone wanted a deal-free. DH said it isn't worth the time or effort, just box up everything for Goodwill, but...I'm thinking of having just one more after Thanksgiving or in early December (I refuse to do it like the last one when it's 95* with 100% humidity). I have some bigger pieces of furniture from school as well as tons of Tupperware. Who knows, we'll see.
Bet, glad somebody spoke with Marlene last night and we know she and Lily are doing fine. I sort of feel like she does, that I repeat the same old thing and have nothing much or exciting to share with everyone. However, you're not going to get rid of me that easy and wish Marlene felt the same. I think of us as "distant family" and it's always nice to hear from one another regardless of what is going on.
Elza, glad you were able to share one of your Mama's favorites this morning at the Church Coffee Chat. Thanks for posting the recipe---it sounds delicious!
Helen, I need to tell you that smashed avocado on toast is one of my favorites---have been eating it for years. I also smear it on English muffins and/bagels. Love it cubed and tossed on my salad and on tacos. Then of course, love me some guacamole! I've never been a fan of the Florida avocado; I prefer the Hass. The Florida avocado is larger, less oily, milder in taste, and they say healthier, but it is not easy to smash, therefore, I'm not playing with it. I too don't find that they have a lot of flavor/taste, so I usually sprinkle either very light salt on mine or depending on what I'm eating, another spice. Have tried many times to start from seed and grown one, but no luck.
BTW, that made me remember...after two years that a hurricane went through and nearly destroyed our lemon tree, it is getting ready to bud! DH and I were very heart broken after the hurricane busted up so many limbs and it was laying on the ground, but with lots of TLC and prayers, it looks like it's going to give us lemons this year.
Have been doing nothing but some last-minute cleaning today, guest bedroom and bathroom, dusting, laundry. Dinner this evening will be leftover porkchops for DH and I'll have leftover taco pie. Tomorrow DH can have scrambled eggs and his black coffee for breakfast, then clear liquids the rest of the day. It's going to be a long day the way that man loves to eat! No idea of what I'll be making for myself, as I don't want to be mean and tease him with anything. Well, I better go, I still have a few things to move off the dining room table. Take care and waving to all! Lori

Chris,
It’s kind of funny. You mentioned that you miss Marlene’s posts. I always enjoyed her posts about her kitty, her community, her church activities and all the wonderful dishes she shared with others.
I don’t post all that often as I don’t think I have all that many interesting things to share.
I guess we all look at life differently.

Afternoon! It's getting gloomier and gloomier. It's fairly warm, though for March. Just for something to do, I prepped the 2 sweet potatoes into wedges (8 per potato) and steamed them al dente. I took a fork and lightly mashed them still keeping the wedges intact. Put each wedge onto oiled parchment (Did you ever crumble the parchment paper and open it up again for it to sit on the baking sheet...makes it stay!) I brushed more oil on the tops and sprinkled each with onion powder, garlic pepper, and a Spice House maple sugar blend. Will warm them in the oven then place them under the broiler (low rack) to brown. No recipe...just an idea. Stay tuned! Helen - We like avocados, but unless I'm making a certain recipe, I never think to buy them! Bet - I don't see a message from you about venison or anything other topic. Mamma - Hope your sale is profitable. Birdy - Fried chicken as a "first" meal, huh? Thinking about what I'd choose, and I think it would be some lamb on the stick with really good French fries and a Greek salad! We used to have a restaurant called, "Bishops" that made this for takeout! It closed when children didn't want to continue in the business. I've made kabobs, but I don't deep fry at home so I could never replicate the fries. Hope you get your wish SOON!!! Elaine - You are a busy lady!! Interesting activities you have! Elza - I showed Bill your cinnamon recipe...he may make it. He loves cinnamon toast for breakfast!! Enjoy your evening! Reset your clocks! Waving!

Helen, I see the ingredient Avocado in a recipe and I read no further. I find them tasteless and I don't like the texture. That was a very brief break believe me. I can't just sit and watch TV or anything like that until I start cooking dinner in the evening and then I will turn the TV on in the kitchen. Otherwise unless I am here at the computer or sitting doing paper work. When I worked full time it was dinner and hit the couch in front of the TV but not anymore.
Chris, I think we all wish Marlene would come back. I enjoy reading what her and Lily are up to.
Lori, hope those blossoms make nice lemons for you this year. Good luck to DH with his prep tomorrow and then the procedure Monday.
Jean, I don't find anyone boring. Love hearing from everyone even if it is only good morning and a weather report.
Ann, apparently I got sidetracked and didn't hit create a message. There is now one for you. Like your creations. I did the same with my vegetable for this evening. Since I am trying strictly to eat already prepared meals from the freezer the only thing I get to cook are my vegetables. Have a carrot and broccoli with some chopped onion which I first precooked then sauteed in olive oil and finished with butter, honey and white balsamic vinegar. They taste pretty good.
Well I got all the food that needed to go to the basement packed up and moved. Got other things from the refrigerate portioned and into the freezer. Will probably package them tomorrow and move to the basement. Cooked carrot, broccoli and onion for dinner tonight. The mashed potatoes are thawing and ready for the microwave as well as the beef tips. Already deep fried my breaded mushrooms and had them as an early appetizer a bit ago. Also got the menu done for the coming week and I think all of the food moved from the freezers downstairs to the holding containers in the freezer here in the kitchen. It takes a while to do the weekly menu as I sit here with the lists of what is downstairs and what I have here in the freezer plus what ever I got fresh this week for vegetables. This past week I did real well and didn't cook anything from scratch that I remember.
BTW it started snowing about 2 this afternoon. Looks like we may have about an inch now. One good thing the temperature has dropped down to 32°which it wasn't suppose to do the the rain we got was very brief. The worst is to come about 3 AM but originally that was suppose to be for 3 hours but now only about an hour. However as it is right now looks like we will get at least 6". Then we will get hit with another storm tomorrow afternoon.
Enjoy your evening.
