Good morning!! It's 26° and cloudy right now. Not much happening...just recovering. Both of us are feeling better, for sure. It was my turn to sleep in the den in my recliner. That itchy, dry cough is just annoying at this point. I found a lozenge that helps..."Fisherman's Friend Original Extra Strong". It's made in England, and I got it from Amazon. Anyway, slept well until my usual waking up time. Shopping was another expensive adventure, but I did get a few deals. I found 3 pounds of ground turkey @ $3.99, some bulk sausage for @1.99, haddock for $6.99 (Lenten special), and some fresh veggies on the sale cart. I put the fish in the freezer with the plan on making fish cakes or pie in the near future. I made spicy turkey/pork meatloaves with drained hatch pepper relish, and spicy, mini-diced tomatoes, eggs, Cheese-its and tortilla chip crumbs and some leftover Lebanese food. An invention, yes, but came out so good. Will slice and portion for meals this week and the freezer. Dinner pizza and salad. Tonight I'm making salmon with the Yakitori sauce. Will have it with rice, and roasted asparagus. We have bags and bags of stuff to drop off at Salvation Army and the local animal shelter...hope to get motivated to do it. Enjoy your morning! Waving!

Well you just never know when I will post! Today is the ladies brunch, so I have everything ready to take to church. DH took 2 loads to the car, and I have 2 bags left to load. I may not get back here today. As soon as I can leave church I will go to work. Tonight is the community concert, so Ruth and I will leave at 5:20 to meet 2 friends for dinner. We are going for Mexican-again. Hooray! The concert is at 7:30 and it is a group called The Suits. Four males who sing songs from the 50's through the 80's. I am looking forward to it.
My olive tarts did not turn out all that well. I softened the butter but not the grated cheese so it did not want to mix together. I added about 2 t. of melted butter and that helped but not enough. I microwaved the dough on 40% power for a few seconds and that helped alot, the dough was easy to handle. Then you freeze the balls. When I baked them the dough spread pretty bad. They did not look pretty but tasted fine. Everyone else brought stuff too so there was a lot of food-wings, and a charcuterie board, and chili relleno squares. Next week we are taking meat, each family, then the guys will be cooking it out on the grill. Girls will do side dishes. I am thinking of cheese potatoes.
A cold front came so it is cold outside. High today is 59 I believe. Tomorrow is cold too,at least cold by our standards!
Time to finish loading the car. Have a super day!!

Good morning everyone. I posted late last night after looking for my post. Have no idea what happened to it. Oh well. Ann, thanks for opening, as always. Good to hear you’re both recovering. Yes, that dry cough can be annoying. Fisherman’s Friend, that’s been here in Canada for a long time. Nasty tasting stuff, but you’re right, it works. Tammy, good to see you, I usually miss your posts. A very full day for you. Hope a your day goes smoothly. Enjoy the concert. DH wants to go for breakfast before grocery shopping. We’ll see, he’s not up yet so plans might change. Won Ton for supper? Who knows? He’s mentioned it several times before and we still have lots of them in the freezer. I plan to have ham and scalloped potatoes for supper tomorrow night, have a craving for scalloped potatoes. Ok, coffee’s ready. Bbl. Jan

Good morning all.
Not too bad this morning, 52º and not windy. Heading to 78º today. Mandy had little interest in her job this morning but a nice walk this afternoon will take care of that and get me out of the house. We need to do that more often now that it's nice outside.
I slept a little better last night, but still not happy with my purchase. It's not comfortable at all. I think I made a big mistake.
There are a few things on the to do list for today. Since I can't remember what they are, I'm glad I wrote them down. I hope to get the work done this morning while it's cooler.
Blue Bloods was good last night. There weren't many times that you saw Seleck walking or standing. It seemed to me his arthritis is taking it's toll on him. I thought he aged some too. And Jamie, OMG, he was one hot looking bad guy. He made my knees weak. LOL
Hobo dinner on the grill for supper, I think, and french toast and sausage for brunch, maybe. My mood may change by then.
Happy weekend to all.

Hey, everybody. I read yesterday but didn't post. It was a busy afternoon but not too bad. Of course Tuesday will be extra busy but it will go by quick!
DH is on a field trip with a group of his students, to a PR conference in Columbia. They are meeting at the Univ of SC Football Operations Center and he was looking forward to seeing that. He left just after 6 am and won't be back till about 6 pm, so he'll be tired.
I need to get dusting done here at some point. I have an appointment to give blood this afternoon so I'll run a few errands before going to that. Washing machine is running right now, and I also would like to get started on taxes this weekend. We have our "supper club" coming on Monday evening but I'll just need to get the chicken bog out of the freezer to thaw and then heat it up on Monday.
Ann, sorry you are still dealing with the persistent cough. That has been a pretty universal experience for anybody who's been sick this winter, me included.
Tammy, you are up and stirring about early this morning! The Suits sounds like a fun concert.
Jan, did you end up having breakfast out? We don't do that often but I do enjoy it. I'm going to try and stay out of the grocery store this weekend.
Leftover spaghetti in the fridge from Thursday's dinner will probably be my lunch. We're going out with friends for lunch after church on Sunday, and then my sister just texted to see if we wanted to meet her & DBIL for supper on Sunday -- if the race at Daytona gets rained out. LOL! I'm fine either way.
ETA to say hello to Mamma! Sorry you're not happy with the new mattress. Do you have a time frame when you can return it?

Elza, I can't return the mattress since it was made to go with my lift bed. The side supports had to be adjusted accordingly. I'm hoping it in time it will soften up some. It's way more firm than it was in the store.

Good morning. I haven't done anything yet. Just took my 1st sip of coffee. i was up all night coughing.
Mamma- hope you get used to the mmattress.
Jan- did you go out for breakfast? Dh wanted the ham out of the freezer so we will also be having ham.
Elza- I am so glad I got my dusting done as I sure don't feel like doing anything. Bruce watched some races yesterday and now he has the TV on watching them dry out the track. He is looking forward to the 500 race.
We have our birthday party tomorrow at the clubhouse. This month is pie. I volunteered to bring one. I am bringing a spicy pumpkin cheesecake. I figure it looks like a pie. I will probably just drop it off early.
Ann- tomorrow will be a hard day for you, so sorry.
I am going to go outside and read. The sun is. Warm today. Elaine

Good afternoon. Have been here off and on all day but as usual busy in the kitchen. First a little cleaning to get it to health board standards since I am cooking for the Lions this weekend so all surfaces. I had things to package to move down stairs and some things to get into the freezer for myself first. I did make a new ice cream this morning. It is vanilla with a caramel swirl through it. Can't wait to try it. If I get to town tomorrow which I should as I need a couple more things for Monday night I want to get what I need to make Moose Track Inc Cream. I did get 1 1/4# of mushrooms cut up and sauteed for the Green Beans and I got clarified butter make that at the moment I don't know which part of the dinner I need it for. Tomorrow I need to make rolls and pull the cooked chicken in broth out to thaw. I would like to get the Lemon rice Pilaf done tomorrow and just have to heat it up Monday and that basically would leave me with mainly the Chicken Cordon Bleu casserole to put together Monday. The ham is precooked so need to toss that in a frying pan to give it a little flavor and make the cheese sauce. Tomorrow I might get all of the cheese grated and the ham cubed and ready to go.
My neighbors texted me a couple of days ago inviting me to go out to dinner with them tonight so they could buy me a birthday dinner. I haven't heard from them today but I think they just arrived. They have reservations for 5 so they will need to be picking me up around 4:30 I would think. Need to get cleaned up and get ready soon.
Enjoy your evening.
Bet

Hi, back again. Mamma sorry you’re not enjoying your mattress yet, but as Chris says, give it time, should soften up a bit. Chris, I’d be in a very bad mood with out my internet. Whatever did we do when there was no internet? We were probably much more productive. emr (and Elaine), ya wanna hear about our breakfast huh? lol. Headed out to a Dutch pancake restaurant, and as we’ve driving, we passed an A & W, yup, a ‘fast food joint’. DH….‘want to try it?’, me…’sure’. Haven’t been there since DGKids were small, don’t recall ever having their breakfast. Ordered the bacon and egg combo. Dripping with fat, at least the potatoes patties were. We both enjoyed every bite. The coffee was good too. Might be a while before we have something like that again, it’s a no-no for both of us. After that, went grocery shopping. Ingredients for my ‘killer’ ice cream. Everything in it is a no-no for us too, but have been making it for years. Freezer bowl in the freezer, ice cream mixture in the fridge, will make it tomorrow afternoon. Aren’t we naughty in our old age? Don’t know what the rest of the day holds, will just play it by ear. Jan

Jan -- I love it! You gotta be bad sometimes!
Bet, you scared me there for a minute when you went straight from "ingredients for Moose Track ice cream" to "1-1/4 lb of mushrooms." 🤔 Glad to know those aren't going together. 😄
Elaine, I think cheesecake would be welcome anytime! Sounds good.
Chris, glad you're back online.
Well, I'm going to get back to the dusting since most of it is done and then I won't have to think about it tomorrow or Monday. I also got some errands run -- to the P.O. to return socks to Darn Tough, and to Sam's to fill up my car -- before giving blood. So I'm checking things off my weekend list and that's always a good feeling.

I had problems getting on yesterday but seems fine today. I made a nice beef stew this morning with leftovers. I had it with garlic bread and plan the same for supper if I'm hungry. I got some lovely mandarins in my last grocery delivery. Have been snacking on those. I don't see any rain in the forecast but a cold 44 degrees for the high. I've skipped my nap but now could nod off at any minute. We'll see. Big hugs.
