Good morning everyone. It is 38º and going to mid 40s. A slight (20%) chance of rain, so doubt that will happen.
I have to leave in a few minutes to take Larry's sister to chemo/radiation in Lacrosse, WI. That will be an entire day in a hospital....very boring and tiring, but I just thank God I am not the patient.
Karen...I also will offer an official congratulations to the family.
Wendy...I thought of you immediately when I read the baby's due date.
Happy Monday to all. Charlene

Just a quick good morning. It is 19°here this morning and high in the 30's. However it is at least sunny. I have been up since 6 and have gotten the most of my tote for tonight packed up. Have a few more things to pack from my kitchen that they don't have or we can't find in the Senior Center Kitchen. To do list is looking good. Worst part I need to go to town and get drinks in the refrigerator this morning. It is my own fault for being to lazy to do it when I was in town on Saturday.
Charlene, I don't envy you your trip today. I remember them only too well. I think DH's chemo was about 4 hours. Were you able to switch with someone today for work? Nice to have that flexibility.
Have a great day.

It sprinkled a bit (of course it did; I washed the car the other day and now have to drive on a gravel road If that is my only issue in life though, I've got it good. Going to WM for my pneumonia shot and then will shop for a few groceries. I don't plan to leave the house the rest of the week. "Thanksfulness is the quickest way to joy." Marlene

Marlene,I think that most of us are quick to complain but then if we stop and think there are those who have a lot worst situation and we should be thankful our problems are miner in the full scope of things.
Carol, enjoy your little overnight trip.
Dave, good to see you checking in.
I just went out to go to town and forgot it is winter and since the car isn't yet in the garage it needs to be cleaned off and warmed up. As soon as I get back I will start the rest of the cooking. I have a list made for packing the car to make sure I take everything and a timeline done for cooking. Wish me luck.

Good morning. I've got some errands to run and then I'll just be doing usual stuff around here. I need to finish baking the cookies I mixed up yesterday. I noticed quite a few disappeared last night. They were good but as much as I love chocolate I think I prefer the oatmeal raisin, especially with the cinnamon chips and nuts.
Karen, I meant to congratulate you also on the new addition. I have 2 grands with June birthdays. But then I also have 2 in July, 2 in August, and 2 in November. At least there are a few that are farther away. It's good that yours will be spread out, especially with Mac's being so close to Christmas.
Charlene, it's so nice of you to spend your day helping others the way you do.
Bet, I'm sure the dinner will go well as usual. You put so much into those dinners.
I need to get moving.

Good afternoon. Boy, oh boy, is it ever windy here right now!!! The wind is howling and sounds ferocious. Just the sound of it makes me shiver! So much for the nice autumn weather. We are sitting at 45° and should only warm up another 2° to hit our expected high for the day. The wind is making it feel like 34°. Time marches on and I have to get use to it. Winter is coming whether I like it or not. Last night's meeting at church went well. I didn't go last month so I wasn't sure what committees I'd be on. The leader did good by me and put me in groups that have things to do prior to the retreat so in case I can't attend I won't mess anything up. Perfect! I've spent the morning wandering around doing in this and that from room to room. Not quite as efficient as going off my list, but stuff is getting done. I worked in my bedroom more than anywhere else because I texted Jerry to see if he would come get my TV set up for the cable company by Friday noon. He said he would. The bedroom is as done as it is going to be. I just have a few things to do to finish up the attached bathroom. Laundry is going and I vacuumed the floor in the utility room. Because you know the one place you don't clean or want someone to go is where they will end up for some reason or another. That's okay. The room needed a good vacuuming. I cleared a space in DSon's room for the TV that is in my room to go once Jerry gets it unhooked. DH wanted me to get rid of it. Why? It still works for basic cable. I just want something a little more techy for my room when I want it. At least until I figure out a better option. I'll junk the TV when it doesn't work anymore. Not before. The to-do list isn't looking as daunting as it once did. I've got this. LOL! I got a nice card in the mail today from a gal in the caregivers group that I use to attend. She lost her husband but still came because she has a sister she cares for now that has memory issues. I don't know if she knows why I stopped coming or what the facilitator told her, but it was nice of her to be vague in her reference to my non-attendance. She plays in the community band that DH loves so much and invited us to their Christmas concert at the church across the street from us. We may go if the kids' visit is pushed back a week because of a death in DDIL's family. If they still come the first weekend of December, that can't happen. I'd like to go. DH was able to make it last year and enjoyed himself. Thank you for the additional congrats on "Little Love 2". My official reference until we know if it is a boy or girl is LL2 just because I have to call the baby something. 😍 I better wave to everyone and keep working. I'll try to comment more later when I am taking a break. As it is now, it's nearly 2:00 and I am just getting lunch in me. Thank goodness for air fryers and being quick to cook stuff.

Hello all. Late in the day but somehow I have been busy since just after 7am when I dropped hubby at the curling club. Yesterday I got one of the loaves done for the sale - 7 cranberry chocolate loaves. They are so good. They are now frozen and wrapped and nestled in (more like wedged in) one of our freezers at the hospital. I bought the ingredients from the grocery store for the other loaf that is planned this afternoon. Most of what I need for this one - Gift of the Magi loaf - I'll pick up on Wednesday from Bulk Barn when it's seniors' day. I even got some housework done this morning so it's nice to sit down for a while this afternoon. Have a good evening everyone.

Good evening,
A little late, but here.
Took care of the birds' needs this morning as usual & watered the Pieris bush I transplanted a while back, also the Camellias I just planted.
My Wisteria tree is/was leaning really bad and it's pretty heavy to push back straight. It seems to be leaning a little more every time I look at it. I was waiting until all the leaves were off to try & do anything with it. Today was that day. First I tried to remove the original stake holding it in place which is a fence stake. Couldn't budge that. Tried putting a new fence stake further back & pulling it up straight to tie to that Nope. Final solution was propping it up with a section of 2x4. I put one of my old garden gloves on the end against the tree so it wouldn't damage the bark. The other end went on the ground. Then little by little I pulled the "tree" back & adjusted the angle of the 2x4 as I did. I think it is as straight as I can get it. Not pretty, but it will keep it from leaning any further & maybe pulling loose from the ground. The prop is on the side away from the street so not easily seen. Next Spring I'll paint it green. Plus this is in my Daylily bed so there will be daylilies all around it
I called the vet about Prince not eating this morning. She told me as long as he is eating something (in his case dry food) there's no need to be concerned. I shouldn't bother with trying different toppings to entice him to eat. I had tried shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, a little warm chicken broth, none worked. Also no need to search for different foods just for him.
He seems to have more of an appetite in the evenings but he will nibble on his dry food off & on throughout the day. He did eat his supper tonight. From now on in the mornings I will give him a spoon of food at a time if he wants to eat. He ate about 2 mouthfuls this morning.
One theory, from the vet, is that he was a picky eater before. Then losing his owner, leading to a strange house, strange person, interfered with his eating habits & it was a case of I'd better eat this in case there isn't any more. Once he settled in good & his meds started working, making him feel more comfortable he reverted back to being a picky eater, because he knows there is food available. Kinda makes sense
Melissa, what did you find out about Cooper?
Charlene, does your SIL have any after effects from the treatment? I remember Dave's 4 hr Dialysis sessions. Difference there was I could take him, leave & go back to get him.
I was doing some computer work when DB #1 stopped by to get me to come to his house to help him carry his Christmas tree in from his garage. So after chatting for a bit, off we went.
His tree is a full sized one so it was in a 6' long box which we carried, one on each end from the garage & into the house through the front door. I was the one walking backward & he has a couple of steps into the house. I was looking down so I could clear the steps with the box. Missed my footing on the top step (which was behind me) & fell. Bruised my arm a little, but nothing serious. We got the tree in, re-arranged his furniture & put the tree up in front of his window. Then we sat & chatted a little more before he brought me home. And I sent green tomatoes home with him.
Went back to computer work until it was suppertime. The sunporch/office doesn't have an overhead light so that room gets dark early now.
That was my day, which I kept thinking was Sunday.

Good evening. The rain has started and it sounds like the wind might be calmer now. As I understand it, the rain is going to hang around all through tomorrow so it is liable to be a goodly amount that we get by the time it moves out. The wind is expected to pick back up tomorrow and could gust to 40 mph. Great! I think we have the makings coming up for a positively yucky weather day!
I have continued to work on stuff around the house since I posted earlier. More than half the house is done at this point, so I am feeling pretty comfortable about things. I did remember, thank God, that I have a funeral luncheon tomorrow morning to deliver mashed potato balls for and get DH to the doctor all before 9am. It's going to be an early morning for me because I am not making the potato balls tonight. I'm too pooped to do much of anything.
Like Gayle, I've also been wondering about Cooper. Hopefully his visit to the vet was helpful and he's on the road to recovery.
I fully intended to comment to everyone, but my brain just isn't cooperating. I think I will make sure DH takes his meds and I take mine so we can both get to sleep at a decent time since we have to be up early. I hope the day was good to everyone. G'night!
