Good Morning, Wow its pretty nice outside, its in the 60's and going to a high of 85, and yes some humidity. Yesterday we got a pop up storm, we could hear it coming, it did miss us here, but about 10 miles away , the wind blew down trees and just made a mess. We could almost see it happening, yes Ray and I like to sit in the garage and watch the storms come in and the rain. It only lasted about 15 minutes, but it really rained hard. We did go to the booth yesterday and put out a few items, mostly knives, they been selling pretty good. Once the kids get in school and the weather isn't so hot maybe we will be selling more. The gal next to our booth, said her sales are way down, I can understand that, you can't walk in her booth so much stuff on the floor in front of her shelves. In the evening I went out and worked on the crab grass, took a shovel and pulled and pulled. The cat is in the house this morning, so maybe I will go out soon to work by the road. I don't think I have to worry so much about her, she is older and don't go that far from home. We are a long ways off the road. Today we just may go play cards with sisters, will depend on how Ray feels, he has been dealing with a stiff neck, and I'm not sure how just sitting will feel. I do have some housework I can do and of course pull weeds.
Leroy, I hear you on that crabgrass, it grows so darn fast in this heat and hard to pull. Have a good evening at work.
Gkids, I do hope you are feeling better this morning. I so have to watch what I eat, been doing pretty good this week. Yes, we haven't had much wind or breeze with all this heat, most of the time just dead still.
Jan, Sounds like you will be busy with job interviews. Volunteeing sometimes turns into a job.
Lair, Yes I can feel your pain with losing a pet, it just shows how good of a person you are. All of us have been thru it and it isn't easy. I have strawberry plants and runners, have been pulling them as they are all over in the front, and no berries. I don't even want to think about the days getting shorter.
Angela, Can't believe no one swimming in the lake, or is it a really cold lake. Our air was off last night and it seems so nice not to hear it running this morning.
Mary, What a cute picture of Brylie, she is growing up so fast. I hope the sheds get a make over, I'm sure only you can see what is wrong with them. Sad about DD friend, hope he can get to see him.
Well I hope I didn't miss anyone, if I did sorry. Wondering about Sandy haven't hear from her in a while. Have a great day.

Good morning Not much going on here today. JM was up yesterday and fixed the brakes in Allen's truck. The Explorer is still in the shop. It started out a the fuel pump. Replaced it & still a problem. Last time we checked on it, he said it was a 'harness' that was causing the problem. Remember the nickname I had for the Explorer = the mousemobile? I think a mouse chewed something & until that is found --well then it can be fixed.
You all take care & have a good day.

Hi Carol and All, I got up at 7:23, and I'm still tired. I have my coffee but it's not doing much for me.
It was foggy out when I got up, but it has since burned off. It's supposed to be hotter and more humid than yesterday. I'm sure glad we went to the Iowa State Fair on Monday. I have no plans for the day which is my typical day anymore. I cut down my one red hollyhock. The morning glories are taking over the bird feeding area. I pulled one plant that was growing out into the lawn and it ended up taking out the whole front right side of that area. Oh well, I'm gonna have to do more because the vines are growing into the actual feeders that are hanging up. I'm gonna have to get that cleaned up before the goldfinches come back. I also cut the heads off the sunflowers and put them in my shed. I wasn't waiting for the squirrels to trash them. I had one plant with a big head and one plant with about 6 or 7 small heads. The birds will enjoy those later.
I watched the highlights of the Iowa State Fair on Iowa Public TV last night. That was actually pretty interesting. They talked to the gal that does the butter cow. She said she was probably going to have to add more butter this year. She was running short. I'll have to go looking for the highlights of the Iowa State Fair. We saw the biggest bull, but it didn't weigh as much as my brother's bull. This year's bull was under 3K lbs.
I watched some of the Olympics also. I watched the USA women win the bronze in the beach volleyball. I also saw the German women beat Brazil for the Gold. The ranking were correct; Germany was ranked #1, Brazil (team 1) was ranked #2, USA was ranked #3, and Brazil (team 2) was ranked #4, and that's how they finished.
We have Corn Days tomorrow night. The parade will go right past our front door about 7:30. We'll go down early for supper which is a pork sandwich, sweetcorn, and a drink from 4-8. They have a queen and princess contest at 5, corn eating contest after the parade, toilet bowl races at 7. They are having stuff at the park on Saturday for the kids. Sunday is a fly-in breakfast at the airport put on by the Knights of Columbus and a regional flying group. You can take a plane ride for 20-30 min. for $20.
DH went up to see his friend. He said there wasn't much talking, but what needed to be said was taken care of. Apparently he didn't know he had lung cancer until recently. My guess is that he may have suspected something wasn't right but never went to a dr. to confirm anything. He's on oxygen and is using a walker. He's still smoking cause there isn't any point in quitting now. DH said he's lost a lot of weight; he thought maybe 10-15 lbs. since he saw him 3 wks. ago. I'm just glad his DD is there to help out. She said she would be there until the end. The other DD is in N. Carolina. She lost her job and got another down there. The DS lives here in town.
Well, I need some breakfast.
I have a question; It list all the people that have been on the board in the last 24 hours. I never see my board name. Do you see your own name as well as the other people or is your name absent when you look at it also? I see all of your names, just not mine.

Good Morning, it is 70 and the sun would like to shine except we have heavy fog across the ground. 20' up in the air it is clear with a blueish shy. Things felt great this morning until I open the back door and got hit in the face with I could only describe as a mister. Our humidity right now is 97%. I went right in the kitchen and turned on the A/C and tore up my list for the day. I'm doing nothing until it cools down on Friday night. After that we have at least 7 days of below average temps. I will have to check my book on things to complain about when it is cool. It has been a while so I don't remember. Yesterday wasn't very productive. Andy came over and mowed the lawn. He sat and talked a while after he finished. He is a good kid and although we have a lot of years between us I enjoy talking to him. Last night he had his dad call me just to tell me if Tim needs any help getting back and forth to the treatments Andy wants to help. Andy had told me that yesterday but I couldn't answer for Tim so he must figure his dad could get an answer. I think Tim will take them up on the offer next week when he gets the pump back. I also had ice packs on my face yesterday. I got a new face mask for sleep apnea in the mail. Along with the mask is a headgear with 2 straps. I like to put a couple stitches in those 2 straps to keep them from sliding down on my neck and the other over the top of my head. While pulling the thread I slipped and hit myself in the mouth. I cut my lip both inside and out. Nothing serious but the ice helped with the swelling, feels better today. Carol, have a good time playing cards. I'm sure Rays neck won't bother as much playing cards as running errands. Good luck with the crab grass. I think I will let mine run wild for this year and just hold up the white flag. Jan, Good luck with your car. Tim just had his checked and found out he has about 6 months before it turns into a pile of rust in the driveway. When he get feeling better he may have to look for a new car. Mary bwatcher, I never see my own name under who has been on the last 24 hours but it does show up on the one who's online now. I have to run away now but will be back in a while. Hi to every one and have a great day. Lair

Charlene, I don't have any problem posting pictures here. It was getting it from my cell phone to my computer and my photobucket account. I've never had a problem doing it until yesterday.
Have you been to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens since they redid it? It was AMAZING! I was disappointed because some of the stuff wasn't labeled and I didn't know what it was. You wouldn't have had that problem I'm sure. Some I guessed at just by looking at the leaves. I told DD that we need to get back there in early to mid July next year. They just finished renovations last year and added 7 more acres of gardens, ponds, and waterfalls. They still have 8 acres of grounds that they can add to in the future. I told DD that if I lived down there I would be a volunteer at that place. I would be in PLANT HEAVEN!!!
Carol, Those sheds are the brand new ones. Then better not need a makeover. There are little puckers in the metal which makes a gap that could let water in. They intend on replacing all these pieces.
Lair, I'm glad that someone has come forward and offered to help Tim out with driving. Just make sure that he gives them the chance to 'feel good about helping someone else' and not refuse their help.
Didn't Sandy say she was going to be dealing with some health? issues/carpal tunnel issues?
Okay, been sitting here too long. I gotta get moving.

I'm back, I wanted to edit but I guess with posting after me I can't. Carol, I think the reason why I am so attached to pets is because I am with them constantly. For 16 years now I have been with my pets for 24/7 and there are so many little times during the day when they do the same things. Like when I go in my office and post in the morning the are always the same 2 cats that come and lay on the desk. One on my left and the other on the right. With lunch one always has to taste everything and of course the one that helps me when I water plants. It is those habits that I miss also.
Mary in MI, glad to see you on the board so often. Keep trying to get the pictures posted. The above post from Charlene is for you, I am sure. Once you get the trick it is a snap or at least it was for me. Just don't get too frustrated.
Angela, I was thinking and wondering just how warm is the lake. I know in Colorado there are a couple lakes that still have ice floating around on the fourth of July. My buddy and I took our boat to one and thought it would be fun with no one on the lake. Before we got the boat unloaded we knew why because we were both frozen. Mary Bwatcher, Tim has friends from work that have offered but he doesn't want them to take a big chunk in the middle of their day just to haul him around.
Well, can't think of anything else right now but If my brain kicks in again I'll be back.

Morning everyone! Will be quick here today as I am feeling kind of iffy! Nothing serious at all, just a bit of RA flare.
Just to answer about our lake. No, it's not a cold lake & definitely no ice either, Lair! LOL It's been free of ice since early April. As for no one swimming yesterday, I'm thinking folks weren't around when I was lingering around outside & possibly too early. Later on the swimmers/floaters were out enjoying the water & the day.
Will likely see you all later.
