Good morning. 33 which is the high. Steady temps until 1 then they start to drop. Low of 17 tonight.
Yesterday I managed to get down the swags and valances and get them washed, dried, pressed, and back up. They had plenty of dust on them when I took them down so it was needed. Ds1 came home about 9 and went to do his reserve hours. It was a quiet Sunday but someone did loose a huge round hay bale on the highway so he sat there for 2 hours blocking it with his patrol car. The 3 kids and I went to church then toTarget. Dh was home from work when we got home. After lunch I worked on work work for a long time doing lessons, prep, documentation, and gathering supplies. I did help dh package the sausage he stuffed in the afternoon. We got a dozen packages of Philly Cheesesteak flavored brats made. We sampled them for dinner and they were good (thankfully since we have a lot).
No big plans for the night after work. I should do a load of towels. I have every Thursday off this month so I’m happy about that (2 I took off and 2 are no school days). Dh took this Thursday off and we will grind more meat and make more sausage. We will then have processed the last of last years venison so we can go get more next weekend!!
Wishing everyone a great day! .

Good morning Melissa and all who stop by later. It is a balmy 38º here this morning, but not getting much warmer all day. We got rain starting yesterday afternoon and through the night. Not a lot, but still rain. Today is windy and damp so not an outside day for me.
Yesterday was not a very productive day for me as I decided to just have a relaxing Sunday after I got home from having brunch with my DSis & BIL. A full stomach swayed my decision to not do much...lol.
I have plans of cleaning upstairs today. I think it's been 3 weeks since I vacuumed up here, so it's time.
Melissa...those Philly cheesesteak brats sound good. Our Fareway store offers flavored brats and my favorite is green onion! 4 day weekends for the rest of the month sounds like a good plan for you....especially with deer hunting coming up.
I need to read and catch up on posts before commenting to anyone else. Have a good Monday everyone. Charlene

Thanks for starting things of this morning Melissa. I'm surprised how cold you are with highs just in the 30s - we are going up to about 50F again today. But rain and wind will come with it, so not necessarily nice - but not bitterly cold yet.
Yesterday was a busy day around here. I had to go out and pick up some supplies for the bonspiel we are running in a couple of weeks. Didn't mind doing it but I had other plans for the weekend but they disappeared when we lost power for effectively 2 days so I was trying to play catch-up! I did get a big batch of Squash with Brie soup for the FOT as well as some baking, destined for the same place. Hubby finished his ice technician course so he was gone all day. Throw in 3 loads of laundry and supper and that sums up my day.
Today I have a hospital appointment 100km away so I need to get moving. Have a great day 🙂

28° here this morning. I am already ready for spring to come back. I did have a good weekend. Saturday I got most of my bushes in front trimmed and looking much better. I didn't do the burning bush just yet. Its leaves are just starting to turn and I kinda wanna see them before I trim it back. Hopefully I'll get around to that in the next week or so. This morning I am heading in to work. I have to work today and Wednesday. Guess thats not too bad. Hope all of you have a great day.

Tasty....I'd be beside myself if I lost power for 2 days. With the colder temps we're having, I'd probably just sit under a blanket...lol.
Steve...sorry you're getting the cold weather too. Your mention of burning bush reminds me that I was going to replace mine this summer and didn't. It winter killed last winter. 2 days sounds do-able for work. Charlene

Good morning. It is a beautiful morning, the sun is shining and everything is working in the house. We were 57 hours without electricity.
I don't mind being cut off from the world. I do miss having access to the internet however to see what everyone is up to here and if I need to research something. Saturday I spent the day on the computer of course mainly looking at recipes. Yesterday I got to work and got a few things done around here. I finally got the conditioner and more water in my water bed when I changed the bedding and of course I cooked. Made myself a great dinner shrimp cocktail, linguini with white clam sauce and a nice glass of wine. Also made a new dessert with vanilla pudding, strawberry jello, strawberries, crushed pineapple and cool whip. I had bought a 3# package of sliced american cheese that isn't individually wrapped so got that separated and into vacuum seal packaging. I will last forever that way. The furniture is mostly cleaned and back in the living room and the kitchen is clean.
Annabelle will be here sometime this morning. DD is picking us up at 2:15 to take me to the city for a consultation with the eye surgeon. Hopefully we will be able to schedule surgery soon. I am tired of not seeing and not feeling comfortable driving. I do need to go next door and make sure the heater came on when the power came back on last night. They were suppose to have left the electric heat on low just in case the heater wasn't working right. It didn't automatically come back on the last time the power was off.
I am not sure just what I will do today. I do need to chase the dirt devil around and get my bedding in the washer. Have a few more clothes I can put in with that. I should go to the shop and look after the plants out there. I still have some that aren't under lights and haven't been cleaned up. I was trying to clean as I brought them in but that didn't happen so once they are under lights I will work on them a little at a time. I also need to reset the timer and I am sure some need water.
Have a great day.

Good morning. It was a beautiful night to get a good nights sleep last night next to the open window but I didn't fall asleep until after 4:30. There are getting more and more nights like that > . Right now it is 33º out. Not sure what I will do today. I only got a few plants from the back corner cut back or pulled yesterday before it started raining. It was a very light rain all day amounting to only .25 of an inch so the only thing I got accomplished was cutting my hair and then cleaning up that mess, a very boring day. Melissa sounds like you guys will have plenty of meat for the winter. Venison is one meat I refuse to eat, even the smell of it cooking makes me gag. Grew up having to eat it and my ex shot deer every year but I would make it for him and the kids that liked it and I and the kids that didn't like it would have beef, lol. Charlene if I would have know you had a down day yesterday I would have called to chat but usually you are so busy on Sundays. Tasty your mention of squash reminded me that one of my sons called this past weekend as to what kind of squash I always made because he said no one seems to make it. I told him butterCUP and since he was at the store when he called and all the different kinds of squash were in a bin together he sent pics of each one to make sure he got the right kind, lol. Steve I was so happy that my back neighbor FINALLY trimmed their bushes along our fence line because it was a jungle like mess but they trimmed too much as now I see we have no privacy from them. Bette I thought you had a generator? so you wouldn't be without power.

Kathy, I do have a generator. It is not the same as having power. There are things that can't hooked to it. Yesterday was the worse as the internet was out so that means no phone, TV or computer on line.

Good Morning,
I am on hold with one of my CC companies. This is the 3rd time I've tried to call them in two weeks. They are always "experiencing high call volume" & never pick up the phone.
We were 46º earlier this morning & it's a sunny day.
I'm not busy at work this week so I took today off. Chelsea & I have been for a walk & I'm going out to blow leaves in the back yard a little later. I have some bills & computer stuff to catch up with first
Outside of that, no real plans for today. Just whatever comes along.
Melissa, I thought you guys went deer hunting a couple weeks ago?

A quick good afternoon. I didn't get on before work because after a quick devotion I worked on the manual for a while. I'll be glad when it's done. I now have a fear that someone will break into my house and steal the computer. Haven't had anyone do that since 2002 but there are a few in the neighborhood who support their habit by doing that. The even emptied their mother's house shortly before she died.
After work guess what I will be doing? Like Melissa, though, I should put a load of towels in the wash.
Sorry for those without power. Stay warm.
Have a good afternoon.

Gayle-Only my 2 middle kids hunted a few weeks ago. It was a youth only 4 day hunt. Ds2 got a deer so his tag is full. He can still party hunt (fill someone else's tag) if he wants to go out. The regular firearms season opens Saturday.
Kathy-My mom won’t eat venison either. My kids love it. We process our own and do it meticulously. We never leave any fat on it since that adds to the gamey flavor. I’ve had venison at other peoples house that they have paid to have processed and thought it was very gamey.

Good evening,
Melissa, I do remember you sayings your kids went out hunting but I just though you & DH decided not to go.
I haven't had venison very often but when I did I liked it OK. DB & his son use to go hunting all the time. I don't think they go much anymore. He used to take the deer to a place in PA & have it processed. Steaks, burgers, hot dogs & even lunch meat.
We had a family friend of my parents that used to go bear hunting someplace in Maine years ago. I've had some of the bear meat but didn't care much for that.
I got all the leaf blowing done on the back yard, for now. Most goes in the beds or in the woods. There are still hundreds, if not thousands of Hickory nuts to rake up.
I can't use the blower in Chelsea's yard because of the fence so I raked that into about 6 piles of leaves & nuts but haven't picked them up yet. I did pick up her "gifts" before I raked.
Cleaned my bird baths & brought them in. Most have ceramic or terra cotta bowls & I don't want them to crack & break over the Winter. I left one out & I'm going to show you that one in a different thread.
I also brought the swing in for the Winter
Had some lunch & put laundry away.
Oh, I ordered my Turk's Cap Lillies. A little later then I planned but as long as the ground doesn't freeze, It's OK.
They are pricey so I was going to just order 3 purple ones. I like those best anyway. but when I brought up the Breck's site they had a mix of 4 colors ;2 plants each (total of 8 plants) on sale for just a couple dollars more than the 3. And the purple ones are incl on the mix so I went with that. I've never had these before. In fact I've never even seen them so we'll see what they look like next Spring.
That was my day.
How was yours?
Work & errands tomorrow.
