Chris, I thoughts go out to you. I lost my Mom twice also but a different way. She was in an auto accident and went into a coma. She lived 18 months that way.
DS and gang are coming for dinner tonight. Have a baked ham in the oven and will have mashed potatoes and buttered corn to finish out dinner. Was going to make a pie but have been cleaning all day. Am making some changes to the house and have a couple of guys coming either tomorrow or Tuesday to move furniture for me. Make the extra downstairs bedroom into more of a family room for doing crafts etc. both for me and the grandkids.
Have a great evening.

Hi all! It just started raining here. We had a gorgeous day. It was sunny and close to 80* in Philadelphia.
Chris, love hearing about you and your HC addiction! We don't ever have it though. DH drinks coffee first thing in the morning and I drink some hot tea. Do you like coffee or tea? If I do make cocoa I do it from scratch with unsweetened cocoa.
Tasty, it's great to read that DH is coming along well. Do you plan to start cooking low fat?
Posy, I said a prayer for your SIL.
Yesterday was a nice day. We saw several bridges, then we were close to a place called Peddler's Village so we stopped by. It is a shopping area of cute shops all around a village green. There are also restaurants, so we ate at one. it was called the Cock and Bull. Had to wait about 10 minutes but it was worth it. I had the pot roast and DH had French dip. As we left, we heard the waitress telling others that it was a 45 minute wait. We drove on and saw a total of 12 bridges. We did drive to the Perl Buck house but it was around 5 and it was not open. There looked to be a wedding going on so we just drove near the house then left. From the highway you see the back side of the house. The drive around the front was closed off.
Today we got up and headed to Philly to meet our friends. We met up with them at the Liberty Bell. We toured Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross house, had lunch at Pat's cheesesteaks. it was a little far to walk to the restaurant so they contacted Uber and got us a ride. Then we used it to go back to the Ben Franklin museum, also we went past the Franklin grave. We stopped by the Carpenters Hall where the Continental Congress met for the first time.
Tomorrow is our last day here, and I think we will be going towards the east. I found out that William Penn's home is closed on Mondays. I hope to go by the place where Washington crossed the Delaware River, and the village of Fallsington.

Tammy- I like to make a hot chocolate mix using unsweetened cocoa powder too. I used to drink tea growing up. My mother thought it was good for kids! LOL When I went to Hawaii for the first time I had Kona coffee and fell in love with it. Had it for years then when my stomach started bothering me a lot that was the first thing I had to give up. Have found out that if you put baking soda in coffee it neutralizes the acid and I seem to be able to drink in again. I love Kona! Bren in Australia got Heidi Dennis and I hooked on Chi Tea. Spiced Chi at that! Tastes really good. They have an instant version that is awesome!

Well I posted and must of not hit create post GGGGGGGGGGR!! Oh well better day tomorrow!
As I have said before I have never met Chris (Wish I had) but we were friends for quite awhile on TOH and here now. We have had so many laughs and what does that hurt? Not a thing we had fun with "Turnip Truck" with Depo and Riding our brooms she has been just like Paulette stirring us 'ol ladies up and making us laugh. Thanks be to you Chris. I can only feel sad for you with your Mother. My Mother just left us in hurry one day was never sick but MIL is getting it pretty well now so it is hard talking to her. But we do what we have to do.
I was gone all day today. Got up at 4:30 and left here at 6 and went to my Son's for my twin DGD's Confirmation. It was so nice then to their house for lunch. We had soup and sandwiches all fixing and desserts. Then drove down to see my brother who has been battling a terrible cold. Got home around 5:00.
So think I will sit a relax the rest of the night away.

BET- we are baking a ham tuesday if it does cool down some like they are saying.
TAMMY- I am sure enjoying hearing about your trip.
CHRIS-I have just a regular 12 cup coffee pot. I use 1/4 cup grounds so how much baking soda? I am starting to have acid and I don't want to give it up. I remember you giving it up or cappuccino.

Elaine- all you need is a pinch per cup. too much and you will taste it so just a pinch will do. I will be trying it in cappuccino when it gets really cold here. I put it in the iced Mocha's now. And in a cup of coffee if I have one. Chris

Hello all.
Nice day here. It is cloudy and having a shower. Such a nice change in So Ca.
We ordered out today so the cook could have a day off. I did make homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
I love hot chocolate and most especially I love Starbucks. It's fun to chat with friends over a yummy drink. Even if it's on a board. Hugs to you Chris in all you are going through.
Enjoy your evening.

Hello and good evening friends.
It's been a long day in the kitchen. After I made breakfast, I made 20 breakfast burritos for the freezer. Then I made a green bean casserole, Watergate salad, and Harvard beets, all of which went with the Delmarvelous grilled chicken for dinner this evening.
Chris, my DF suffered with Alzheimer's 23 years. Most people with Alzheimer's don't ever last that long, but my Dad wasn't ready to give up. It was an unbelievable time in my life filled with so much pain--to watch someone you love dying slowly, knowing there's not a darn thing you can do to help them was very hard. After my DM suddenly passed away in 2006, I became the full time caregiver (I have three younger brothers that did nothing). Thankfully I had/have a supportive and loving DH and I bet without him I wouldn't have made it. Dad was in a nursing home and I was teaching, but I went M-F right from school until 8 every evening, feeding him dinner and just keeping him company. Saturday and Sunday, I did his laundry, went over to feed him lunch and then back to feed him dinner, leaving at 8 or 9 at night. This went on until 2009 when he passed away. So my advice to you ((Chris)), keep drinking those HC's if they help you because the shoes you are walking in right now are filled with many days of heartbreak and heartache. I will keep you in my prayers Chris.
I was going to go watch a little tv with DH, but he has already fallen asleep in the Lazy Boy, so I think I'll read a bit before I go to bed. As of right now, no job for tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if something pops up. Wishing one and all a relaxing and peaceful night. Lori

Very late getting here today. I think coming home from the hospital tomorrow, I might just have to stop at Starbucks. Usually it's a latte but I think tomorrow it will have to be a HC, Chris. You stay just the way you are girl, we love ya!
Hubby continues to do well, was up, in his chair, most of the day. Managed to have a shower and has been doing some walking. He was moved from ICU yesterday evening into a private room. They needed his bed and the private bed was the only bed left that he could go to. It is really quite nice and as quiet as anything can be in a hospital.
Hugs to your sister (?) Posy. Hope her heart problems are an easy fix.
Tammy, we will definitely be looking at a low-sodium, low-fat diet. I spent a chunk of time this evening going through the pantry and tossing anything with high sodium content - a lot went out.
I have to be at the hospital early in the morning to attend a pre-discharge class for heart surgery patients and their caregivers.
Wishing all a good night and a marvellous Monday - hopefully I will be able to have a little bit of time to chat later this week.
