Looks like a sloppy mix later today for us here. My DS's GF and I are going to Hanover to a Sip'n Blow. A salon is offer a wash, cut and curl along with a holiday drink a prizes and so we decided we would go and get ourselves gussied up! LOL All for $40 I need a hair or two cut anyway.
I need to make the cookies for our cookie swap on Tuesday later today too. I am making chocolate no bakes and my annual rosettes.

Chris I can't make the rosettes!! I had the press to do it and gave to Goodwill!! I can not get it to drop off the iron!! I am stupid I guess! I am a show and tell person and never seen anyone make them but they are so pretty.
I am ready to go to church and get things set up for fellowship. Will get there about 8:30 and set out my things and make a cheese plate and some crackers. I have my roll ups cut on a glass plate ready to go up with me. I have 2 trays of cookies and 2 trays of candies and small dish of 3 fudges. Also I have 2 dishes of fruits. I am sure Cookie will have the same. No one should be hungry.
It looks to be a nice day today so hope we have a crowd!

Marlene- The secret is to make the iron hot and keep it hot at all times and not submerge it all the way in the batter. As long as you let it get hot before you dip it seems to fall right off. Chris
p.s. You are not stupid at all, it took me a lot of tries before I got it LOL My first tries were awful!

Good Morning!
Thanks Chris for starting us off. Stay safe driving around today, and have fun while you get gussied up. In Amarillo there is a store in the mall that is called Gussied Up!
Marlene, your spread sounds wonderful. You are not stupid!!! I also am a visual learner, so sure I could not do that either unless someone showed me. I remember buying a small kitchen torch after Christmas one year at a great price. It had the small butane bottle with it, but I could not figure how in the world to get it together! I finally was in a Williams Sonoma store and asked them and they had to show me. It was something I did use 1 time, then gave it away when we moved into the rv. I did not think I would use it again.
I just finished making my Greek salad for today. I go the dessert done yesterday. It is a Southern Living recipe. It is a crust of rushed Butterfingers, a small amount of crushed saltines and crushed grahams with melted butter. You chill it , then make a filling of vanilla pudding mixed with softened vanilla ice cream. Top with Cool Whip and a sprinkle of the crust mixture. I think it will taste really good. I hope I get a piece/ Sometimes if I am at the end of the line my stuff is gone by the time I get up there. I made this years and years ago, but don't really remember what it tastes like. I had it hand written in my "special" recipe folder, so must have loved it back then.
Now it's time to go and get ready for church. I am going to dress warm. Our high will be in the 60's but it is still cool right now and the sanctuary is always cool. Also, if I am a greeter then I stand right inside the door where it is very cold.
The banquet was nice last night. DH cooked the turkey and the brisket and he got lots of compliments. We played some games, none of which I won. The funniest one was an empty box of tissues, filled with 8 jingle bells, It was stuck in a pair of pantyhose, with the opening up. You tie the legs around your waist, the box is at the small of your back, and then everyone shakes, jumps or whatever, to try and get all the bells out of the box. Then pastor gave us his vision of where the church will be headed down the road for the next several years.
Need to take the puppies outside, and get myself gussied up! Bye!

Good morning. Just on a short break from the kitchen. Have the Caramel, coconut, chocolate chip cookie dough made and in the refrigerator and have baked 16 miniture rum cakes. Just waiting for the pans to cool off and get them washed up to get the last of the dough in the oven. When those are baked need to make a trip to town unfortunately for more groceries. I only have 2 eggs left in the house, forgot to get confectioners sugar for my coconut balls and an going to run out of walnuts. They it will be back to baking. When that is finished I really need to declutter both the dining room table and the eating counter. Once I vacuum again I will declare I am finished with the decorating of the house for this year.
We were at 24° this morning and it is overcast but not suppose to get any of the stuff Chris is getting.
I received a very disturbing call about dinner time last evening. It was my DB telling me our cousin's son had been murdered and the body had been found face down in a river. This happened in the town where I go to Walmart. No details are available as yet except to men have been arrested in regards to the shooting but not for the actual murder. The news now says they have a person of interest that they are looking for and he is considered armed and dangerous.
Marlene, I am sure all your goodies will be gone at church. You have done a lot for this fellowship. Hope you can enjoy yourself while there.
Tammy, so nice for DH to get such great reviews on his meat.
Time to get back to the kitchen.
Have a great day.
Bet

Good morning. Just getting ready to go to church. 3 of us ladies are trying a different church today.
Chris- I love both of your cookie exchange ideas. My sister is making krumkaka for our exchange. I said I would make diskettes but Cindy said that is the only thing she makes at Christmas so I am making Alfields sugar cookies. ( They were DH aunts recipe ).
MARLENE- as Chris said iron needs to be hot. Also only dip iron into batter 3/4 of the way. You are no means stupid. I bet your goodies didn't last long at fellowship. I have been trying different churches and none of them have fellowships.
Tamara- did you post pictures of your house and I missed them? I have played that game before, lots of laughs. That dessert sounds good. I see you also have a special spot for those keeper recipes.
Bet- wow, your goodies sound good too. I need to frost a cake for the monthly birthday party at the clubhouse.I just made a spice cake and will put cream cheese frosting on it. Sorry to hear about your cousins son.
I will check back later.Elaine

Well I decided to run out to the store and get the quick cooking oatmeal for the no bakes and 3/4 of mile from house slid all over the road. We have about a quarter inch of sleet/ice on the roads.
Bad out there. Chris (hunkering down with her HC)

No, I did not post photos here. I tried a couple years ago and never could get any to post. She must have meant some on facebook, maybe some DH posted. I have not posted any that I can think of.
All my dessert was gone, I did grab a piece early. It is very good. I'll post the recipe soon.
Next week they are serving turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy. I had planned on a cassoulet, so will have to change the menu. I will bring some side or a salad, and a dessert. I have been wanting to try making a slab coconut cream pie. I also have a recipe set aside to try soon for church so maybe next week would be a good time for it. It is crock pot ranch potatoes. It's hash brown potatoes (partially thawed), cream of potato soup, cream cheese and a packet of ranch dressing mix.
I hear the bed calling....time for a nap!

Hello friends.
Bet, Sorry to read about your cousin's son, such a tragedy!
Chris, Can you re-schedule the hair appointment? Sounded like fun.
Got your Christmas card Marlene. Very nice picture of you. You will get ours probably by Tuesday.
I did get some Christmas shopping done yesterday but not finished.
I will head back out again this week. It cold and raining here.
DH just left to pick up oldest DD from her cousins house.
I went food shopping today and I bought steak for dinner tonight.
We have friends coming over for Christmas Eve dinner. I asked my friend what she usually makes for dinner on Christmas day and she said roast beef. I was going to make prime rib but since she has beef the following day I will make a spiral ham and a turkey roulade. As for Christmas dinner, we will have prime rib for us.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Nancy

Afternoon, friends! It's been cloudy and chilly today. Earlier today I made a deconstructed cheese ball spread with sweet and savory ingredients...crushed pineapple, salami, olives, hot peppers, bleu cheese, cheddar, cream cheese, etc. Will add crunch nuts when serving with crackers. Chris - Too bad you had to cancel your spa appointment. In winter, when making appointments or reservations, I always ask when is the earliest I can call to postpone. Usually most understand. I won't drive in ice and snow if I can help it!!! Nancy - Yum on the roast beef for Christmas. We are just the 3 of us, and I am making lobster pie with mascarpone butter and Ritz crump topping. I haven't decided on the sides. We don't do either of the "eves" anymore....Mom is disappointed because she has so many memories of days past, but we have no relatives or friends who are free from their own families' celebrations. Marlene - There was a "discussion" on another forum about spritz cookies. One person said to freeze the cookie sheet so the spritz would stick. I don't make those kind of cookies, though. Please don't think your are "dumb"; you are one of the most experienced woman I have ever "met". Bet - Sorry to read about your cousin's son. That's awful. Times, they are changing...not to my liking!!! Tammy - Love DH's Skillet Cassoulet...had it twice awhile ago! I'm anxious to see pictures, too!!!! Tonight we are having an indoor picnic...leftover chicken salad, salad veggies, salami, bleu cheese, cheddar cheese, and whole grain crackers. Lori- Thinking of you; hope you are feeling better. Waving!

We did a lot of running around yesterday so took it easy today. DD is planning Christmas dinner and checking her cupboard for ingredients. She’d like to try some new recipes from the stack she’s never gotten around to. Sounds good to me. Tonite we’re having ham/bean soup with dumplings. That will hit the spot on this chilly day.
I’m sorry for your loss, Bet. Wish I could do something to help your hurt. Hope all those under the weather feel better soon. Hugs.
